On Wednesday morning, Obama released a sweeping 23 executive actions and orders he will take to limit gun usage.

Already, talk of the executive orders has raised significant controversy. Order 16, for example, may raise serious concerns with privacy advocates.

The order, as summarized, simply states federal agencies will “clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.”

In addition, a fact sheet provided by the White House with the order list elaborates: “Clarify that no federal law prevents health care providers from warning law enforcement authorities about threats of violence.”

Does not prohibit is not the same thing as "MUST" is it?

I figured the Nutter's would jump on that. Now that their lie of "Obama is coming to get your guns" has been revealed, they've got to find SOMETHING to spin into a threat to keep the adrenaline pumping through the veins of their few remaining supporters.

See...this is just another indication that it's all much ado about nothing. The President's whole "program," like the "tough" gun laws in New York, is just a sop to the emotionally charged moment in the aftermath of Newtown.

It's nothing substantive and little more than a reaction to the cry that "something must be done!" That's just politics in action and not a threat to anything.

It could have been much, much worse.

Who cares what a doctor asks you?

You have no legal responsibility to tell them what guns you have, and there is no punishment for not telling them.

It does not specify them, that is true, but they are in fact doctors. So it applies.

Perhaps they didn't want to write a specific list that included categories like Psychiatrists, Neurosurgeons, etc, etc?

Certainly, if someone had surgery on their brain, for instance, that gave them a likelihood for sudden violent mood swings, having an assault rifle might be a bad thing...

It's not "in there." That's the point. There's no prohibition (or requirement, obviously) in the law regarding your doctor engaging you in a voluntary conversation about guns. Obvious things need to be stated explicitly given the sheer amount of disinformation being churned out about the ACA.
