Ah yes, a huge surprise. Obama promises to kill measures that would bring costs down in order to secure the support of a group that he needs...

In just a few months, we will hopefully see SCOTUS strike the whole damn thing down!

WASHINGTON — After weeks of talks, drug industry lobbyists were growing nervous. To cut a deal with the White House on overhauling health care, they needed to be sure that President Obama would stop a proposal intended to bring down medicine prices.

On June 3, 2009, one of the lobbyists e-mailed Nancy-Ann DeParle, the president’s health care adviser. Ms. DeParle reassured the lobbyist. Although Mr. Obama was overseas, she wrote, she and other top officials had “made decision, based on how constructive you guys have been, to oppose importation” on a different proposal.

Just like that, Mr. Obama’s staff signaled a willingness to put aside support for the reimportation of prescription medicines at lower prices and by doing so solidified a compact with an industry the president had vilified on the campaign trail. Central to Mr. Obama’s drive to remake the nation’s health care system was an unlikely collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry that forced unappealing trade-offs.

Wow...a President who caves under pressure from powerful industries. Alert the media.

But wait, he's gonna stand up to Big Drug, and those Pharmaceutical companies are republicans!!!!!!!!!!! Oh wait they're not. Big government and big business make out all the the time, yet liberals wanna see them as advasaries. hint "They're on the same team"

That's why they favor alot of regulation AND why you have superrich that love democrats. regulation they can pay for, they pass it on to us. And it makes it harder to have a startup challenge them.

Lobbyists run this country. Until Money gets out of politics, it will always be this way.

Well that's not gonna happen, so lets come up with plan B. I got one, lets standardize laws. First criminal laws.
For the same offence, everyone gets the same punishment. Now we can apply that to business. If you want to regulate the soft drink industry, then regulate EVERY company, no more sweet heart deals, k? I'm all for it.no more picking winners and losers.

Absolutely NOTHING NEW, dupes. This new system will be tinkered with FOREVER- This was exactly as much as they could do now, obviously. A huge step forward that will save money and lives immediately. Pub dupes!!

No, you let the judges do their job- one punishment for all is even worse...

Part B- example?

No -- you elect politicians who PANDER to lobbyists. It's the POWER to PANDER stupid.

A company becomes road-kill under the Big Govt tires if they don't have lobbyists.

Ask MicroSoft.. They were lobbying virgins when they got screwed big-time...

Bigger govt -- more power to grant favors and Solyndras... Wouldn't happen if the govt didn't see itself as Chairman of the Board over everything..

Really franco? So arent liberals like you the ones that say how unfair the system is to minorities, that they get the death penalty more often, blah blah blah. Standardizing the punishments would eliminate that.
Anyway why have different classifications of murder and just hit someone with a murder charge and let the "judge" sort it out?
I love liberals who complain of biases and of unjust punishments, yet they never want to standardize them. They just like to complain I guess.

Barack Obama vs. BIG PHARMA

"Governments on both sides of the Atlantic are placing big new bets on the future of brain science, just as much of the pharmaceutical industry retreats from the field.

Brain disorders ranging from depression to Alzheimer's are extracting an ever greater social and economic cost across the globe. But while the United States and European Union are funding ambitious efforts in neuroscience, the private sector is often skeptical about the prospect of rapid breakthrough cures. (Pussies!)

Many pharmaceutical companies harbor deep doubts about whether neuroscience is worth their investment dollars as a boom period for once highly profitable psychiatric medicines comes to an end and new drugs prove hard to find.

President Barack Obama unveiled a major initiative last week to map the individual cells and circuits that make up the human brain. That announcement followed a EU decision in January to award up to $1.3 billion to a Swiss-based project aiming to create a synthetic "computerized" brain."
