Obama Wants To Meet With GOP On Health Care

Your post is a jumble of poorly constructed sentences and random thoughts. It appears to make no sense whatsoever other than that republicans are obviously evil, possibly criminally insane.
Why should the GOP negotiate with someone who's goal runs counter to the values of this country and who has already said that he will not go back to square one?
Look, Obama could not get his agenda passed despite unprecedented control. Now he needs to peel off one or two pliable Republicans to get his agenda passed, an agenda already rejected by the majority of Americans.

BREAKING NEWS: REPUBLICANS WANT TO REACH A BI-PARTISAN AGREEMENT ON HEALTHCARE!

'If Democrats will consider giving up everyone of THEIR ideas, We will consider voting for a Healthcare bill..'

Yup, the Prez enjoyed eating the GOP's lunch so much in Baltimore he decided he'd like a little more.

And what's really cool is that if the Repubs say no to this, they'll look even worse.

:D

Not really.

Who cares what the press thinks.

People are wise to his tricks now.

The GOP isn't falling for what that lying bastard has in store for them.

This shouldn't be about who looks good......it's supposed to be about solving motherfucken problems.

Fucken idiot.

The GOP wasn't prepared for the President to offer a discussion on HC face to face- Telivised. They know he would kick their hineys like he did at their little meeting.

Um, last I checked it was OBAMA calling for bipartisan talks.
And do you really think he is planning on giving up massive expansion of gov't into insurance?

Geez, leftists wouldn't know the truth if it bit them on the shins.

You know how they are.

They fuck up and act like it was the GOP doing it.

I've seen everything. They turn the public against the war, they blame Bush for Katrina....on and on....and now that they have a huge majority they try to fix blame for their screw ups on the GOP.

WHAT'S FUCKEN NEXT!!!!

No, it's that they're a bunch of assholes who whine about being left out of the process when, at least on the Senate side, they obviously have been allowed to contribute, but still pissed on the bill in the end anyway. They've made it clear they have absolutely no interest in seeing this pass in the end. Both sides have pols who are in the pocket of the insurance and other healthcare industries, but the GOP more so.

As far as the House GOP goes, a lot of them don't seem terribly bright, either.

Fine. They can sit their asses on the sidelines while this thing gets done and if it is the loser with the American public you and other cons think it is, they can run on repealing it.

But, y'know, the polls notwithstanding, they seem to be really scared of this. Maybe it has something to do with the idea that despite poll numbers suggesting a majority don't like this particular bill, they did seem to like the public option, which passing this bill could make easier to enact in the future.

Hey, genius. What do you think has been going on for the last 9 months? If the Dums could have passed this turd without the GOP, they would have done it already. That's the whole point.

How many Republicans voted for the Senate version? How many Republicans does the House need to pass the Senate version?

They don't need any Repub votes, they just need to get some of their skittish Blue Dogs to vote for it.

AND they need to stop trying to work with a minority who was hostile to this from the beginning.

What the Rabbi said. IF they could have gotten it 'done' they would have. You think things have gotten more likely in that direction? How?

At this point I'm not sure how likely or unlikely it is. Doesn't change the fact that they don't need Republicans to pass what's already passed one house.

Two bills have passed. One in each house. Both are unacceptable to the American people.

Zero.
This is just what I've been saying and you've been disagreeing with. Now you want to agree with me and so are arguing with yourself. Let me know which one wins.

You need to tell President Socialist to change tactics (AGAIN) then. Maybe he should fix the economy first, so we can afford to pay for this crappy social medicine plan.

You're missing the point.

The reason for this summit is to get momentum for the Dems to pass the Senate version of the bill. The WH and the Dem leadership already know they're not likely to get any GOP votes for this at this point.

reconcilliation will help to make it more acceptable to at least some Americans. Some will never be and that can't be helped.

So this whole "bipartisan" thing is just a ruse to energize the base Democrats to vote for something they've already indicated they won't vote for?
That theory is so stupid it must be true! Obama is a political moron, as well as a general moron.

The last meeting on CSPAN was a positive for Obama. At least after all this time he's finally talking to Republicans.

Problem is during his inauguration speech he promised to end the petty squabbles and begin working with the loyal opposition. Does he honestly think that showing up and appearing to ask them questions after over a year of shutting them out of the process is going make him look like he's really interested in what they have to say and willing to change some of his policies on health care?

So this one meeting erases all of the arrogance of the past year on his part and the Democrats. He wants to show the GOP as the party of no. This is his chance. This is his way of making them look like they aren't willing to work with him, not vice-verse.

Is anyone buying this?

Why don't the republicans just ask the president to wait on health care?

The president said the "economy and jobs" were first.

Why doesn't he prove that by fixing the economy first?
Then he can work on social security and get it solvent.
Then he can work on fixing medicaid and medicare.

After he fixes the things that are already broken (by gov), we might give him a chance to break something that hasn't been completely broken by gov (health care).
