I don't know why, but this made me laugh.

An analysis of political contributions from soldiers on the battlefield has produced some unexpected results. The Center for Responsive Politics has found that the presidential candidate with a record as a bona fide war hero is garnering far less financial support from the troops than the Harvard-trained lawyer.
"Democrat Barack Obama has received nearly six times as much money from troops deployed overseas at the time of their contributions than has Republican John McCain, and the fiercely anti-war Ron Paul, though he suspended his campaign for the Republican nomination months ago, has received more than four times McCain's haul," the report said.

Vets don't care much for McCain either ...

A couple of months ago, Time magazine posed the question: “Does McCain Have a Vets Problem?” The question hardly fits into the existing media narrative — John McCain is a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. He shouldn’t, the argument goes, have any trouble winning over the support of other veterans.

But the narrative is incomplete, to put it mildly. Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America gave McCain a grade of D for his record of voting against veterans (Obama got a B+), while the Disabled Veterans of America gave McCain a 20% vote rating. The Vietnam Veterans of America compiled a list of key votes, and found McCain voted against the group’s position 15 times and with the group eight times. (Obama, in contrast, voted with the VVA 12 times, and against it only once.)

Crooks and Liars The ‘Veterans’ Vote’ is far from locked up

If the Capital Eye is in any way related to Helium, it's a leftist rag, and I wouldn't trust any poll they conducted or anything else they print.

OpenSecrets | Troops Deployed Abroad Give 6:1 to Obama - Capital Eye

It's a true story but the OP title is misleading and it was not a poll. Of the 323 donations made by "Troops stationed abroad" this quarter 134 gave money to Obama while just 26 went to John McCain. (99 to Ron Paul, lol)

Contributions from 'All Military Personnel' are much closer than the overseas numbers and the article did not say if "overseas" means Iraq or all our bases around the globe. When it comes to polls and voting, chances are we see a fairly typical Republican swing by the military.

Well, let me ask you all this.

Do you think the people who donated money to Obama's campaign did it because they hope he can bring them home to their families before McCain can?

It's interedting that the troops most likely to see danger, the Marines, favor McCain in donations. However, like I tried to point out above, this sample is just too small to be meaningful.

Meh, whoever our troops send money to or vote for... they earned their say. God Bless em.

No, they donated the $$ because they're socialists who want to see the US diminished and contained within her own borders.

BTW, did you ever come up with a reason for voting for Obama? Or are you just following the anti-American crowd?

No, it means I know Helium and their writers, and they're leftist POS who have no concept of ethical journalism. They plagarize, make things up, and use the most shoddy of investigative techniques.

I am pretty sure Obama has been topping McCain in donations in every single category there is. It's actually pretty upsetting to see the veterans also favoring Obama; maybe they just want to go home sooner? Either way, if Obama is elected, they're going to be back on the battlefield pretty soon afterwards.

doesnt change the fact that you made an absolutely absurd comment about our troops. but keep trying to deflect

Pretty much ... I guess the troops only garner Allie's respect if they vote Republican ... what about troops like me, Allie ... the ones who plan on voting for Obama but also Republican or Libertarian elsewhere on the ticket ... how much respect does my service get for that?

McCain opposed veterans' benefits... and they don't want someone in office talking about blowing up Iran.
