Let's conduct a little thought experiment, shall we?

Let's say, for example, that Obama's aides even realized that Marx birthday was on May 5th. (That, in and of itself, is probably pure speculation, since they've likely have enough to do without reviewing all events that took place on the same calendar date before planning some event.) But let's just say that they knew it and were sensitive to any implication of scheduling an event on May 5th or Trotsky's birthday, or Lenin's birthday, or Stalin's birthday, or Mao's birthday. (Well, you get the point). So, instead of scheduling ANY event for May 5th of any year, Obama has no scheduled events at all. What would be the typical conservative conclusion? They would conclude (and I use that term loosely) that President Obama took the day off to commemorate Marx's birthday, out of respect for Marxist philosophy.

It's otherwise known as a no-win situation.
