Obama to call for 5-year spending freeze

You ask him to tackle the deficit, he outlines a plan and you hate it. Shocker.

His "plan" will work as well as every other plan he has laid out to reduce spending. He has no credibility on this issue (and hardly any other). Especially so when he is planning on asking for more spending--oops I meant investment.

Ahhh, it wouldn't be an extremist thread without Rabbi. Once Willow shows up, we should be all hands on deck.

yeah, pointing out that Obama has failed at every plan to reduce spending sure is "extremist."

Yeah right... after he has gotten every leftwing loonie idea rammed thru already. Shit, there is nothing but a few things left to do.

This speech is going to be a hoot!

(The Captain’s Comments)

Spending was up 84% under Obama.

Today, ABC celebrated the news today Obama will announce a “freeze” on spending tonight.
ABC reported:

Pursuing a path of deficit reduction and government reform, President Obama will tonight in his State of the Union address call for a ban on earmarks and he will propose an overall budget freeze, ABC News has learned.

The proposals come as the president prepares to tackle the deficit and debt and as he faces a House of Representatives in Republican hands, many of whose members include those affiliated with the Tea Party who may be willing to embrace both moves.

The president will propose some new spending in certain areas that address the speech’s theme of “How We Win the Future”: innovation, education and infrastructure. But those increases will be proposed as part of an overall budget freeze, which given the annual rate of growth is often seen in Washington, DC, budgeting as a cut.

Shouldn't we at least go back to pre-bailout-everybody frenzied spending before we do a freeze? I'm afraid of the current spending levels.
