Obama Thanks Egyptian President For Security At Cairo Embassy

obama thanked the Egyptian president for not sending the Egyptian military to protect the embassy. That's what happened.

What are the Egyptian Military supposed to do? ain't no Egyptian Soldier going to kill another Egyptian to protect Americans, they wouldn't even do that for Mubarak.

The obligation of host nations is to defend foreign embassies. If you look at it objectively it makes sense. If host nations did not have this obligation, then embassies would be protected by the military of that foreign country. That's not an embassy it's an occupation. Imagine in this country. We will not protect foreign embassies. There is a protest at the Russian Embassy over the imprisonment of Pussy Riot. The Russian army protecting the Embassy opens fire on the protesting Americans. It doesn't end well does it?

To the average Egyptian on the ground all those agreements with host nations mean less than a fart in the wind, technically yes the Egyptian Military was supposed to put down the protests but we all saw what they did, which was basically nothing.

They were following orders.

Even if an Egyptian General told his troops to protect the Embassy they would just ignore him.

We will never know what would have happened because no Egyptian General gave such an order.

The people of Egypt want to see Egyptian Generals giving the order to burn the American Embassy to ashes.

It's a bit different than it was 18 months ago isn't it?

Egyptians have always hated Americans though, Mubarak just kept a lid on it and put on some window dressing thats all.

Very few muslims like Americans. We prove how awful we are every day. Most of the world doesn't like Americans. Even those countries that are our allies politically don't like the American people. My company is based in London and I get told all the time how much the British people despise Americans. However, we can be forgiven for American transgressions if we want to be more European.

Well I wouldn't agree with all of that, the Kurds are very pro American. Kurdistan in Iraq was the only place where our troops felt safe and could take off their kevlar helmets and bulletproof vests, the Kurds are a rare breed in that part of the world.

Morsi is treading a very fine political line in his own country.
American foreign policy has to recognise that and encourage him to go in the direction that's in the best interests of the US and Israel.

It's clear Israel will be eliminated.

You can't trust an Arab to want anything else.

Like the Hatfield and McCoys.
