So, are you seriously asserting that taxing a segment of the population at say, 10% more, which would generate about $80,000,000,000 annually (assuming they don't just shift things around so as to legally avoid the additional tax) will fix the economy and pay off the debt that we are accumulating at roughly $1,500,000,000,000 annually?

Nothing gets fixed overnight. We have been heading down this path for thirty years with reduced tax rates on the wealthy. These rates have not provided the jobs they promised. There was no trickle down. All we got was more debt and the wealthiest among us grabbing a bigger slice of the pie

How about this RightWinger - how about until government can actually spend within their budget one fucking time, we cut taxes, cut taxes, and cut taxes some more until we damn near collapse our government.

Why is it every time someone proposes reining in military spending conservatives run around clucking about how the Democrats are trying to disarm America? I've got news for you. We can't afford our defense budget anymore. There is no reason why we need to have 700 bases around the world nor to continue playing world policemen. Our defense budget should focus on defending our land and our borders, period. Not Afghanistan's, not Libya's, not Japan's, not any of the Europeans, not Israel's, none.

You people seem to think that the military deserves a blank check to spend what ever they want. We could cut our defense budget by a third and still more than adequately protect our nation from an attack.

It hasn't "worked" because the govt continues to grow and pile on debt. It hasn't worked because politicians have ignored the demands of competing in a global economy and continued to set barriers to new ventures and companies..
