Obama is strengthening our relationships with Russia, the G8 nations and the Vatican.

The Bush administration soured international relations with their arrogant unilateral style.

Obama is healing the relations as shown by the success of his current trip. Obama knows how to disagree with others but not be disagreeable. George Bush was disagreeable whether he agreed or disagreed with other international leaders.

Another plus is Obama knows how to chew with his mouth closed.

I suppose that's why Russia threatened to deploy missles near Poland if we didn't stop missle defense.

Did you pay attention to what happened to US-Russian relations durring the Bush administration. George W Bush almost undid all that Reagan and his father did in the 80's.

Putin took advantage of Bush's unpopularity and lack of respect in the international community to increase Russian power in throughout world.

The overall tone of Obama's meetings in Russia were cooperative. You need to read more than one article about Obama's trip to Russia.

And we all know what a great track record "cooperating" with commies has.

You sound like you are a graduate of the George W. Bush school of international relations.

The results speak for themself.

We need to work our relationship with Russia to our advantage not the Russian's advantage. Putin played George W. like a fine tuned violin, to his advantage.
Obama will use diplomacy to turn that around.

Nonsense.

American boys in Europe only hastened the inevitable, and the Soviets did next to nothing to help out in the Pacific...In fact they remained so neutral that they ended up interning three B-29s and copying them.

They did next to nothing to help out in the pacific sure but you forget what they did on the Eastern front.

THEY did the majority of the "grinder fighting" in WII and had the most deaths out of any Allied country at 23,100,000. (Civilians included)

It will take years beyond Obama for the US to repair all the damage that Bush did to our standing in the world.

Well without the Soviet Union, we wouldn't of won World War II.
Without the USA, the Soviets would have been speaking german.
We just did threads on the debacle at Kursk and the ineptitude of the Abwehr, and you can still say that??
Of course.

Are you not aware the USA fed and clothed the ENTIRE Soviet army for the bulk of the war?

Our Russian friends would not have won with naked starving troops, its one of the little facts of WWII that escape people.

Another is we 'needed' the russians to win.

It would have cost more American lives and taken more time, but the Nazis would not have done any better against A bombs then the Japanese did.

The Eastern front was their war from the day Hitler tossed the non-aggression pact.

There was no way Germany was going to win after the disasters at Stalingrad and Kursk.
