Here's a reason - national security. disclosure, chain of evidence, Miranda rights, etc. No one on the left has given good reason why they can't be tried in military court. Except that the NYT and others won't be able to put Bush on trial there and reveal military secrets to the enemy. I do believe they have been held too long.But both sides are to blame for that. That's no reason to compromise the safety of our troops and civilians..

National security? Silly comment. National security is not compromised in the slightest by a federal trial. The judge can exclude unclassified personnel for certain categories of evidence. The real question then is how can military tribunals meet the Constitution's bars to justice and fair trials. You cons have not ever shown how the Constitution is threatened by terrorism that requires the violation of it in order to protect it. Step off.
