Obama Spokesman Calls Newt Or Anyone Who Says They Can Lower Gas Prices Liars

"The U.S. has around 20 billion barrels in proven reserves, but the amount of undiscovered so called "technically recoverable" oil is over seven times that.
Those are the government's own figures!
And we can get that oil using today's technology. In fact, the U.S. has nearly 1.5 trillion barrels of oil.
That's enough to fuel the present needs in the U.S. for around 250 years,

Well with 50 gazillion barrells of oil in the USA reserves, it make you wonder why in the hell we import any oil?

Any rethugs got an answer to that? Being as we have the reserves for 250 years, why import anything.

By the time we run out (250 years according to one poster and FOX) some dude in China will have invented an engine that runs on bull shit or something renewable.

Stop importing oil. We have enough as it is. According to FOX.

I think we should pump every single drop of oil in the USA, out of the ground, turn it into cheap gas, burn it all up at cheap prices, then when all of our oil is gone, we can truly be held hostage by any country that still has oil.

Would that be a great thing or not?

Looks like that'll take 60 years. By that time we should figure how to make pond-scum into fuel.

In the mean time, you need to suck it up or walk...........jeeze don't you know everyone is supposed to live in the city so they have public transportation??

Ahh now you are seeing a glimmer.
Higher gas prices impact other countries less because they have better mass transit systems, etc.
The USA was designed around cheap gas and we have fought all attempts at improving mass transit.
Damn poor planning.
But good planning on the oil companies parts. It is why they bought up light rail systems and such long ago and shut them down.

If you say enough stupid shit, you might eventually believe it. Designing the USA around cheap gasoline more or less created the modern world as we know it today, including all of the remarkable advance to the human condition the USA has contributed.

Yep but it was a flash in the pan and cannot long endure in current form.

Sustainabilty is another matter, but only a complete asshole would argue that America's contributions to the human condition were a mistake.

Apparently you have not been reading what your fellow repubs have to say. Right above these posts you will find that we have oil reserves for 250 years.

What is up with your 60 years?

The government intends to use their green vision to prevent travel. They want to limit your ability to go where you want to go. If necessary, or rather when it is necessary, the order can shut down all forms of mass transportation and the private citizen can't go anywhere at all.

It's all the fault of big oil isn't it? No. but many people who don't see a problem with being prisoners in their little verticle gulags will help them.

Fact: the world consumption of oil is 89.9 bbls/day. Opening American wilderness areas wouldn't be a fart in the ocean. Obama caused that? Are Republicans really stupid enough to believe that one man can change global demand? Are Republicans really stupid enough to believe that oil companies are going to sell to the American market at a discount to global prices?

Fact: oil is openly traded, and in the case of the NY exchange, 64% of the contracts are held by speculators, not producers and buyers of the commodity. Obama caused that? Do Republicans want government to regulate that only producers and those who take delivery invest in that market?

Fact: US off-shore drilling rigs have doubled since 2009. That's higher than any time since 1980. For the right wing idiots, it has to do with the fact that when prices are high, producers produce more. When prices are low, they produce less.

Fact: last years tsunami put 54 of Japan's nukes out of commission, requiring them to import an extra 300,000 bbls/day for electricity demand. Obama caused that?

Who is doing the saber rattling the loudest on Iran? Not Obama, he's seeking diplomatic solutions to their weapons plans.

Who is thwarting efforts to replace fossil fuels with renewable sources of energy? Not Obama or the Democrats in congress.

Who fights tooth and nail against any regulations to gain more fuel efficiency? Not Obama.

The only way that Obama could reduce the price of oil would be through massive, taxpayer financed subsidizes at the pump, or by nationalizing all domestic production of oil. Is that what the right wing wants?

Let's start with ANWR.

50 gazillion bbl? Can you argue a point without using blatant lies? At best, the geologist estimates are it contains 5.7 and 16 billion bbls. How does that change the dynamic of world demand being 89.9 million bbls/day?

Part of the reason we're importing is Obama policies. The other part is the fact that this is still a free country. I'm sure Obama wants to "transform" us into a less free economy.

Because dumb shit politicians would rather get into bed with anti-fossil fuel interests to insure their re-election.
The USA could become the richest nation on Earth if we harvested our own natural resources. Not in an uncontrolled boom type environment. But a measured and somewhat cautious way. The end result would be enough petroleum royalties to pay off the federal deficit in 10 or 15 years without a single penny of tax increases.
Hundreds of thousands of people could be hired at high paying solid career type jobs.
I see nothing wrong with this.
All that needs to be done is get the federal government to get the hell out of the way.

That cat is smarter than you.
It shits in a pan full of oil dry and you have to clean it out.

Heads up kiddies.

Its not OUR oil.

And the oil and refined products in the USA will go whereever the oil companies can get the best rpice for it.

You RW cracks apparently don't understand that.

And those nasty oil companies will continue to pay royalties, salaries, taxes and dividends.

We wouldn't want more of those. At least LW cracks don't.

Oh we understand it fuckwad.

Obama likes it like that.

Easier to use class-warfare on em then.

You see, Obama keeps telling us he wants us to cut down on our consumption. When we do the oil companies just sell more abroad. No matter how much we cut back the price never goes down. They've been doing that in California since the 70s and their energy prices just keep going up.

Genius. The price of oil and gas is relative to the world market. Not just what is in the US.
You should get off this idea now before it buries you.
