That's right, if you tell people about who Obama has allied himself with or what his policies are it's a smear. Is it also a smear to mention what his VP nominee says?

Right, its not a smear. Thats why Palin herself has said that she disagrees with the calls McCain has been making. So has 2 Republican Senators.

Whether you admit it or not, they are smears. McCain has run a dishonest, disgusting campaign from start to finish.

Would you mind listing the top three smears with links?

Obama "worked closely" with Domestic Terrorists.

Saying "these elitist democrats don't understand us, and we can't trust them"

Obama "puts hollywood over America"

There you go.

You gotta be joking? This is what you consider to be a smear? Please. That's tame stuff in a political campaign.

The only thing I'd take exception with is the plural on domestic terrorists. It should be singular.

Obama has done far, far worse on scaring the crap out of seniors in Florida regarding social security.

Do you have a link to the actual robo call for the "domestic terrorists" quote?

Obama has done far worse....talking about the issues. Nice rejoinder there.

Whether you choose to accept it, McCain has been smearing Obama via robocalls and mailers. This is just a response to that. Hell, even your vp candidate disagrees with McCain and we all know it takes a fair bit to go past her morals.

As for a link, click around TPM. Its all there.

If what you posted is what you consider a smear then you've not been around politics very long. What you posted is pretty patty cake stuff. In fact, it is basically true although exaggerated.

Now what McCain thinks Bush did to him (or whoever did it) in the 2000 South Carolina Primary... now that's a smear, my friend.

Right...saying someone works with domestic terrorists is "cake stuff"

And you seem to be unaware that for one campaign to say to another this is NOT cake stuff. This is generally the kind of mudslinging that the 527's do, not the main campaign. This stuff is coming from McCain central.

Just to follow up on this: If McCain was doing robo calls that stated Obama was a Muslim, not a U.S. citizen, etc. that would be a smear. But again what you've called a smear, while exaggerated and an opinion, is at least based on factual info: Obama did have an alliance with Ayers, Obama was in Hollywood for a big fundraiser during the economic crisis and "elitist" thing is an opinion and opinions are neither right or wrong, their simply opinions.

Obama did not "work closely" with Ayers. Obama did not "choose Hollywood over America" and Obama is not "an elitist".

Those are smears. And the "oh its an opinion" thing is bullshit. Would you be ok with it if Obama put out an ad that said that McCain's policies will cause terrorists to kill your children? And then said...oh wait, its just my opinion...?

No, you'd be frothing at the mouth. They are smears. Even Palin recognizes it, but surprise surprise, you can't.

But it's 100% true! He did work with the guy - and more then once. It was not a casual association. It was someone Obama choose to ally himself with.

Obama would be doing exact same thing to McCain if McCain had half that kind of association with a KKK member.

Really? How about if McCain had a close alliance with the guy who causes an S&L crisis in the 80's, and went to jail over it?

Might be a bit convincing considering the current economic crisis. But oh wait, Obama isn't being a total shitbag about it, while McCain is.

Obama did not "work closely" with Ayers.

The hell he didn't. We'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

Obama did not "choose Hollywood over America"

Hyperbole. Not a smear. Typically political speak.

Obama is not "an elitist".

It's an opinion. In American we can still have an opinion. Not a smear.

Again, if you really want a good example of a smear look at what happened to McCain in the 2000 South Carolina primary.

What happened to McCain in 2000 wasn't done by the Bush campaign. You are comparing apples to oranges.

Totally fair game.

Right...somehow I doubt you would be saying that if Obama was doing it. Sorry, but I'm willing to condemn dirty politics when I see it, you apparently aren't.
