Yes, my home state is being sued to keep the military from voting.

Stupid liberals are always claiming that Republicans disenfranchise voters, but when it comes to disenfranchising it's always the Democrats that are behind it.

From Jim Crowe to now, DEMOCRATS are always behind the real vote disenfranchising, and we have it again with Obama!

President Barack Obama, along with many Democrats, likes to say that, while they may disagree with the GOP on many issues related to national security, they absolutely share their admiration and dedication to members of our armed forces. Obama, in particular, enjoys being seen visiting troops and having photos taken with members of our military. So, why is his campaign and the Democrat party suing to restrict their ability to vote in the upcoming election?

On July 17th, the Obama for America Campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and the Ohio Democratic Party filed suit in OH to strike down part of that state's law governing voting by members of the military. Their suit said that part of the law is "arbitrary" with "no discernible rational basis."

Currently, Ohio allows the public to vote early in-person up until the Friday before the election. Members of the military are given three extra days to do so. While the Democrats may see this as "arbitrary" and having "no discernible rational basis," I think it is entirely reasonable given the demands on servicemen and women's time and their obligations to their sworn duty.

The National Defense Committee reports:
[f]or each of the last three years, the Department of Defense’s Federal Voting Assistance Program has reported to the President and the Congress that the number one reason for military voter disenfranchisement is inadequate time to successfully vote.
If anyone proposes legislation to combat voter fraud, Democrats will loudly scream that the proposal could "disenfranchise" some voter, somewhere. We must ensure, they argue, that voting is easy and accessible to every single voter. Every voter, that is, except the men and women of our military.

Obama Campaign Sues to Restrict Military Voting

The Attorney General for the State of Ohio, Mike DeWine has already been on Fox, saying Ohio wil fight this law suit and it is OBVIOUS That this law suit is designed to keep all military votes from being counted.

It's pretty obvious why! Obama knows the military isn't behind him! And that he can't win reelection without Ohio. So, he doesn't care how obvious this move is. He will do any dirty underhanded vote disenfranchising to win Ohio.

So, you libs can scream your phony outrage about vote disenfranchising. We will all know you are phony liars because you will all be for this law suit.

Democrats! Once again, the REAL VOTE DISENFRANCHISERS!

Historically, the Dems have made it tough for military members to cast their ballots. Usually, it's the troops overseas that were disenfranchised because their ballots were mailed to them late and they didn't have time to return them by the deadline. This has gone on for years. Some years, it would have been necessary for troops to quickly fill out ballots and send them via overnight mail, a little difficult when they are in the field and no where near a post office.

The left won't give the military a break. Meanwhile, ACORN goes out and fills out registration, fake ones included, and people are given cigarettes and a meal for hopping on the bus to go vote for the Dem candidate. You know damn well they don't go out of there way for Republican voters.

It's the Dems I don't trust.

Do you remember in 2000, when Democrats recounting votes in Florida kept throwing out military votes claiming the post date made them so they couldn't be counted, but legal expert after legal expert said that wasn't true.

It was Hillary Clinton herself that tried a lawsuit claiming the military shouldn't be allowed to vote at ALL!

Liberals keep LYING that Republicans try to keep blacks from voting. Funny, I see them vote every time, I'm in line to vote.

But it's the DEMOCORRUPTS that really practice vote disenfranchisement.

They have to be really desperate to do this so openly, and less than 100 days from the election.

Notice libs are keeping quiet on this.

They know what Obama is trying to pull, and they hope peope won't notice. :eusa_shifty: :eusa_shhh:

Third day in a row someone has posted this story, by now most of the more rational conservatives have seen the glaring flaw in this line of attack but it looks we have some spectacularly uninformed people still left.

As The Cincinnati Enquirer reported on July 18, "Now, only uniformed military personnel, their spouses and their voting-age dependents [in Ohio] can vote through Monday, the day before the Nov. 6 election. Everyone else must vote by the Friday before Election Day. The campaign says that means all Ohio voters aren't being treated fairly and that's a violation of the U.S. Constitution's equal protection clause"

I guess that explains why so many military organizations are joining the law suit.

The National Guard Association of the United States and more than a dozen other fraternal military groups asked a U.S. judge for permission to intervene in and oppose a lawsuit filed by President Barack Obama’s campaign challenging the fairness of Ohio’s early voting rules.
The campaign sued Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Secretary of State Jon Husted on July 17, claiming the state’s two-tiered early voting process violates the U.S. Constitution’s guarantees of equal protection under the law.

State law allows families of armed forces members and civilians overseas to vote through the Monday before an election while early voting for all other Ohioans ends the preceding Friday. The campaign seeks a court order invalidating the statutes.

“Members of the U.S. Armed Forces risk their lives to keep this nation safe and defend the fundamental constitutional right to vote,” the military groups said in in their request to intervene in the case.
‘Special Consideration’

“The Obama campaign’s and Democratic National Committee’s argument that it is arbitrary and unconstitutional to afford special consideration, flexibility, and accommodations to military voters to make it easier for them to vote in person is not only offensive, but flatly wrong as a matter of law,” the groups said.

They’re asking U.S. District Judge Peter C. Economus in Columbus, Ohio, for permission to join the case on the side of the state, and to oppose the the Obama campaign’s request for injunctive relief. A hearing is scheduled for Aug. 15.

You buttheads know full well not all military personel are IN Ohio unlike local voters!

And they call this equal protection?????????? What a load of crap!

It's not "equal protection" to deliberately make it more difficult for the military to vote. That's not equal protection, that's deliberate disenfranchising.

"If we want to protect voting rights now, and in the future, it's on all of us to step up and actively push back. Every Ohioan who cares about this fight, or has fought like hell to keep voting rights intact over the last year, should know the best way to help right now is to join the organizing that's making sure every eligible voter is ready and able to cast their ballot this fall."

State Rep. Mike Dovilla, R-Berea, said in a release: “It is a sad day for Ohioans who now bear witness to one of the most untruthful and partisan attacks on our state’s election law by President Obama’s reelection campaign and the Democratic National Committee."

Dovilla co-sponsored - with a Democrat - the measure that passed the legislature without dissent vote to conform Ohio's practice with a new federal law increasing voting access to military families.

"This lawsuit is nothing more than a partisan maneuver on behalf of the Obama campaign and the DNC to create confusion for Ohio voters. This lawsuit is a continuation of the Obama campaign’s attempt to undermine our state’s responsibility to ensure fair elections," Dovilla said

Navy Times!

Oh yeah Media Matters is much more reliable than the Navy, right? If you libs could only see yourselves as the rest of do!:lol::lol::lol::lol:

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Fifteen military groups are opposing a federal lawsuit in Ohio brought by President Obama’s campaign because they say it could threaten voter protections afforded to service members, such as the extended time they have to cast a ballot.

Obama’s campaign and Democrats filed the lawsuit last month against Ohio’s top elections official in a dispute over the battleground state’s law that restricts early, in-person voting during the final three days before Election Day.

The campaign, the Democratic National Committee and the Ohio Democratic Party contend the law unfairly ends in-person voting for most Ohioans three days earlier than it does for military and overseas voters.
Attorneys for the Democrats argue such “disparate” treatment is unconstitutional, and all voters should be able to vote on those days.
AMVETS, the National Guard Association of the United States, the Association of the U.S. Army and other organizations asked a judge late Wednesday to dismiss the lawsuit.

The military groups say federal and state law recognizes that service members need extra time to cast their ballots. They say they fear the precedent that could be set if a court finds that military voters shouldn’t be treated differently than other voters.

“Efforts to facilitate and maximize military voting should be welcomed, not viewed with constitutional suspicion,” the groups said in a court filing that seeks to intervene in the case.

And here's something I bet you libs can't answer.

I was mistaken when I said other states are being sued.

ONLY OHIO IS BEING SUED.

If the Obama admin is looking for "equal protection" then explain why the AG isn't suing THE OTHER 32 STATES THAT HAVE THE SAME LAW FOR MILITARY VOTERS AS OHIO??????????????

I bet a dime you libs will shut up or dodge and dance around that question!

Thread fail?

LIBERAL FAIL YOU MEAN!

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

It's much more fun to watch you all wallow in ignorance rather than check a real news source.

Yeah, like Media Matters???????

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Well they did report what the lawsuit is really about but by all means continue to spread a highly distorted picture of the situation, I am here for my own amusement, not to educate you.

No, they reported WHAT YOU WANTED TO HEAR!

I have given several articles from several papers citing what the law suit is about.

YOU won't even read them, because you are putting your fingers in your ears and screaming la la la la, against anything that counters what you want to believe.

Who's wallowing in ignorance?

You lose!

America watches the liberals cheat.

Right out in the open too!

And I still want libs to answer, if this is about "equal protection" then EXPLAIN WHY ONLY OHIO IS BEING SUED AND NOT THE OTHER 32 STATES THAT HAVE THE SAME LAW???????

That doesn't sound very equal to me.

It sounds more like Obama is trying to mess with Ohio law becaue he needs that state to win.
