Obama says "I don't want them punished with a baby"

I hear people say it all the time. The way it goes is this: Some shrieking lib states that somebody who doesn't believe in abortion should be "punished" with having a teen-aged daughter getting knocked up, then be "forced" to raise the child, to make them understand why abortion should be legal.

When asked, "Do you think it's ok to take the life of the baby?" the response is, "Do you think it's okay for people to beat their children, or for children to grow up unwanted, unloved, poor, miserable, etc. blah blah blah." The crowning comment is usually, "How many kids have YOU adopted? If you haven't adopted any, you have no right to tell others they have to have a baby."

Brilliant.

In a nutshell: they do think it's ok to kill a baby, but don't want to actually admit it, so they bloviate about how horrible child abuse and abandonment is, and how abortion prevents that from happening.

Of course it would be difficult to prove those assertions. Which is why it has never been done, and why they should not be used as evidence that abortion is necessary. But that is the only thing pro-abortionists have, so they use it. When they aren't actually lying, that is, about how if abortion is illegal women who are raped by their brothers won't be able to get rid of the horrible monstrosities they must be carrying, or how if abortion is illegal, women with medical complications will die horrible, painful, bloody deaths because it will be illegal for them to abort.

But that's the extent of the pro-abortion argument. They would have a better time of it if they just admitted that the only reason they want to keep abortion legal is they want to have the option to off people at will, when they become a nuisance.

I heard this comment by Obama,......just another sign that he is not seasoned enough to talk at a political level.

And another sign that he really is a liberal, and he's lying when he says he isn't.

I think the bigger concept behind the "baby as punishment" is the fact that libs think personal desire trumps the rights of everyone else.

Amazing, Babble, you aren't a liberal but you know what they all think. Must be a conservative gift.

And only liberals lie? Get a life.

And what is it we see? We see a man who, instead of teaching his child to face up to her responsibilities, would rather have the baby - his own grandchild - be killed. That's the kind of man you liberals want to elect. It sure makes me wonder if he would face up to his OWN responsibilities as President…or would he just toss someone else under the bus…

oh wait...he already did...he threw his white grandmother under the bus...basically calling her a typical white racist...to save his own ass..

...the grandmother who worked hard all her own life working at Boeing in Kansas and a bank in Hawaii...who cared for him and spent good money to give him the good prep school education that got him started...who took responsibility while his white trash mother lived on welfare...while his highly-educated black muslim polygamist father, Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. returned to Kenya to drink, chase and beat women, and finally die drunk in one of his many car crashes. Yeah, that's how ya treat a responsible family member who cared for ya...

Talking to yourself again nutjob?

No, just adding more facts to the background of this supposedly responsible, caring, pro-change Obama that all you idiot liberals are going ga-ga over. I'm certainly not impressed whatsoever.

You got anything about him that would impress me? Other than his gift of gab?

I don't know what would impress you. I can't say for instance that he can skin his own vermin. I just don't know. However, just for you, I have composed this little list of reasons I like Obama.

"Things I like about Obama." By ReillyT

[This list excludes policy positions, as generally Democrats will favor Obama policy positions while Republicans would not. These are my top (i.e., off the top of my head) reasons for supporting Obama]

1. Upbringing as the product of a mixed-raced relationship... means exposure to a variety of experiences faced by whites and blacks.

2. Went to Columbia, which is my alma mater.

3. Editor of the Harvard Law Review. This is a harder position to get than manager at Quick-Mart. You have to be really, really smart.

4. Worked as a community organizer in Chicago. Thus, has some experience with issues of poverty, and empathy for the poor.

5. Was Constitutional Law professor at University of Chicago (which is a really good law school). To get this position you have to be really, really smart... and know lots about the Constitution (which our current President does not).

[Technically, he was a law lecturer rather than tenured professor, but I went to law school and his position clearly qualifies as what most people think of when they think "law professor"]

6. He is one hell of a speaker. I actually get goosebumps sometimes during his speeches, and yes... he does fill me with hope. I know I should be too old for that shit, but it is nice to have hope that your country can become something greater than it currently is.

7. Has been elected official for over ten years. Actually, this doesn't matter much to me.

8. Has never been arrested or indicted for corruption, possession of child pornography, treason, or anything else.

9. He seems like a nice man and I like that he never appears rattled.

10. He used to smoke. I would prefer it still more if he currently smoked, but I understand the reasons for quitting. I hope it doesn't affect his speaking voice.

11. For a politician in a spirited campaign, he has kept it remarkably positive. This makes me hope (there I go again) that he possibly can elevate the discourse in politics a bit.

12. I wasn't alive for JFK, and I disagree with so much of what Reagan was trying to accomplish. I really want a politician that can inspire.

13. Obama Girl is hot.

14. He actually thought the war was a bad idea. I bought into it and thought it was a good idea. I was stupid. He was smart. I can respect that.

By the way, I also like John McCain. I think he is a reasonably honorable man, and I don’t think he would be the worst president, even though I disagree with the majority of his politics.

Why trash Obama? You can disagree with him but he isn’t by any measure that I can see a horrible person.

One other reason: he is young. I am tired of the baby boomers. I frankly feel that the baby boomer generation has completely fucked up. They followed the Greatest Generation with a big zero. I want to give the next generation a try.

* If you are a member of the baby boomer generation, I certainly don't hold you personally responsible.

1. Upbringing as the product of a mixed-raced relationship... means exposure to a variety of experiences faced by whites and blacks.Yes, but in countries and a state, where race was less of an issue, since their were many of mixed races

2. Went to Columbia, which is my alma mater.

3. Editor of the Harvard Law Review. This is a harder position to get than manager at Quick-Mart. You have to be really, really smart. While first is good, his record there was less than stellar.

4. Worked as a community organizer in Chicago. Thus, has some experience with issues of poverty, and empathy for the poor. What did he accomplish? I live in Chicago area and have yet to find where he made a difference for any but himself.

5. Was Constitutional Law professor at University of Chicago (which is a really good law school). To get this position you have to be really, really smart... and know lots about the Constitution (which our current President does not). No he wasn't, he was a lecturer, which is NOT the same. I don't think 'most people' are quite as ignorant as you assume. You're correct about Chicago being a really good law school, it's really a great school. Yeah Parks & Burgess!

I don't think he should be trashed, on that we agree. I don't think he should be lionized either.

At least we agree with the last bit.

1. I won't quibble about his performance as Editor of the Harvard Law Review.

2. Do community organizers ever really make a perceptible difference outside their locality? {Actually, a rare few actually do} Anyway, I am less interested in whether he was the world's best community organizer than that he had that experience.

3. Law lecturer means that he was responsible for teaching Constitutional Law to the students at the University of Chicago (you are correct - a great law school). He was not tenured and he was not required to publish. It does suggest he is very smart and knows about Constitutional law.

4. I think he has kept it positive. Wright became an issue, but it certainly didn't involve negative campaigning on his part.

Fair enough about lionizing him. However, I am going to choose to be willfully ignorant to his flaws (while at the same time maintaining respect for John McCain). I was always going to vote Democrat anyways, and I figure that if I want to delude myself into thinking that Obama is capable of accomplishing more than any politician is likely to do, well, than I will just be disappointed. It is nice to believe for a change anyway.

Regarding #2, the whole point IS to have an impact locally. Where DID he? Psst, he didn't. Thus the 'experience' would be one of failure. He lost his election bid to Bobby Rush, that is sad.

Regarding #4, Barack has responded as if Wright was wrong 'for soundbites' rather than being prejudiced and inciting racism. If he wishes to represent the United States, he must embrace all: Black, White, Brown, Red, Yellow, whathaveyou.

Just to stir up your little pot a little ... I agree that Obama shouldn't be trashed. While I am not pointing the finger at you I will say the usual reaction from the left when so much as questioning something questionable is as if he IS being trashed.

The last few posts between you and Kathianne is probably the most reasonable discourse I've seen on this board where Obama is concerned.

However admirable, being a good student at a good university does not make one presidential material.

Being a run-of-the-mill state senator does not make one presidential material. State senators are a dime-a-dozen.

Being a "nice man" who did fairly well, who can speak well, does not make one presidential material.

Being black does not make one presidential material.

Other than his oratory abilities, you got nothing. This guy is not anywhere near presidential material.

So I'm "trashing" Obama, am I? Look dude, I was just bringing out the facts…..facts surrounding the grandmother that HE trashed in front of America to excuse his sorry and very questionable relationship with Pastor Wright. I refuse to join you and the masses in being an apologist for this guy, treating him with kid gloves just because he is black. Bottom line - Obama is a racist and he is using racism and his gift of gab to win the presidency....he has no substantive credentials to be President of the U.S.

Or is he just another token black? Presidential affirmative action? :eusa_wall:

Sure, raising children is no picnic. But to a normal parent a baby is not "punishment". (teenagers are another matter) Just because one thinks it would be "punishment" for a teen to have a baby - that is not a good enough reason to just kill it.

Of course this all is nothing new to me. Liberals are notorious for avoiding personal responsibility.

I think it is you who have jumped from punishment to killing. Having a baby young is the punishment, killing it is not. Please avoid these partisan reads and all will be all right with the world. Well maybe not all but more.

Gee... if baby bush had been subjected to such scrutiny... maybe we wouldn't have had a dangerous blithering idiot for a president for the past 7 years.

You have to be kidding. You folks on the left have left NO stone unturned, no accusation unmade where Bush is concerned.

This isn't about Bush. He isn't running for President. Obama is and if the left held him to the same standard you do conservatives, he'd already be disqualified.

I enjoy the fact that every election year, there's one or two candidates that each side ends up going "ga ga" over, and every single time the candidate that wins ends up becoming exactly the opposite of what the revellers expected.

Like Obama is going to be any different.
