Perhaps Senator Obama will be good enough to tell us what that flaw is and how he plans to remedy it.

do you ever get tired of yourself paper?

If the constitution didn't have flaws why are politicans always trying to amended it?

It would freakin' help A LOT if this vid actually let us know what the question was he was answering, don't you think?

How on earth can we evaluate this without knowing what exactly he's talking about?

Of course that is exactly WHY this vid doesn't give us the whole story, I suspect.

Taking partial statements out of context proves nothing except that the editor is dishonest.

Okay that's better.

Now at least I have some idea of the issue he was referring to.

Sure the fact that the constitution did NOTHING but reinforce the legality of the redistribution of wealth coming from BLACK SLAVES into the hands of slave owners.

That consitution WAS deeply and tragically flawed.

As to the Warren court?

Well certainly enfranchising Blacks such that they could vote helped, but of course it did NOTHING to help those folks who'd suffered cerntrues of slavery and then another century of Jim Crow laws, did it?

Who can argue with that accessment of our history?

Now what could that court have done to truly pay the Blacks back for the sorry history of redistribution of their wealth that had occurred for three hundred years?

Consitutionally?

Nothing. They couldn't have done anything about that injustice because to try to repay that debt would have violated the 5th amendment.

This was the problem and this will continue to be the problem.

We have what about 25,000,000 Black Americans whose family history was so tragic that the historic injustice still reverberates thoughout this society economically.

And there is no obvious solution that can rectify that problem or repay for that redistribution of Black wealth that was stolen from them, either.

of course it has flaws. you act like the constitution is the bible or something. every political system has flaws. and over time some things do change. you can't stay stuck in the past forever.

The COTUS wasn't flawed. The slavery compromise was done to unite the states so they could pool resources and defend themselves against their common enemies. The issue of slavery would just have to wait. Other, more pressing issues took precedent. Based on the realities of the day it proved to be a wise move.

So basically Obama is pursuing reparations. Is that what this "share the wealth" is all about?
