The OP is a simple minded individual. He does not understand that full blown unregulated capitalism leads to the same end result as full blown communism.

One suppier. I doubt he will get it...but it is a true story.

Just because someone does not agree with you does not make them simple minded. I would argue that you inability to see opposing points of view makes you simple minded. Mater of fact I would bet that is a perfect example of you and I'm sure you like trying to find individuals that are simple minded to make yourself seem bigger. I guess to compensate for something else.

I understand the idea of full blown capitalism is not a good thing either but I realize that communism and socialism are failures and always will be because there is no true equality. There will always be inequality no matter what form of economy you have. Communism and Socialism just picks the privileged rather than each earning it themselves. We have gone too far to government control period and the president is talking about needing to go further. The only thing further than where we are now is Socialism. Heck truthfully we already have a ton of socialism in our society now.

It just doesn’t work. In fact, it’s never worked. It didn’t work in the decade before the Great Depression. It didn’t work when we tried it during the last decade. Why do we think it would work now?

He said that in reference to tinkle down economics.

And, he's right.

"Trickle down" is just a liberal pejorative that means "capitalism."

No, "trickle down" is a CON$ervative platitude that means if you redistribute money from the middle class to the rich it will trickle down from the rich to the poor.

That is not what it means. What it means is that if the rich get richer it brings the bottom up. It has worked because our poor live better than the middle class in other countries and our middle class live better than the rich in other countries. I would say that prove it works.

Obama says that the individual economy has failed. He says it failed before the great depression and it failed before him. He said that we need to change the economy from the individual to the collective. He is saying that capitalism has failed and we need Communism. Why no one is reporting this and no one is bothered by it gets me. I guess I live to close to Cuba and I know what that really means.
I know some out there are going to act like I’m crazy and say it is a conspiracy theory. It is not a conspiracy theory if he is saying it. You tell me what he is referring to when he says the individual economy. What exactly is that to you? Is there another type of individual economy out there that I don’t know about?

I don't have a link to the speech I heard today. But here is a link to a speech where he said something similar.

It fails precisely because the Government gets involved and screws it up to favour the lazy among us.

The Founders meant every bit of liberty they recognized, and that meant economic liberty as well.

Get RID of the Federal Reserve or at least rein it in and make it more accountable to the Private sector, and the people.

Obama is off his rocker on this.

:eusa_eh: Would love to see you prove any of this. And comparing our country with a 3rd world nation doesn't prove a thing. I know that's where you would go with this so let's try and keep it to industrialized 1st world nations. Ok go ahead....

I didn't read beyond the first page of this thread, but I did go to the OP's link and I got a different flavor for what President Obama said. Here is the quote I picked out:

A vision that doesn’t say we leave everything to the free market by itself, and everybody is left to fend for themselves and play by their own rules. It’s a vision that says, yes, we believe in the free market and we believe in entrepreneurship and individualism. But we also believe that anybody who works hard should have the chance to get ahead — not just a few. (Applause.) A vision that says we’re greater together than we are on our own — and that everybody should get a fair shot, everybody should do their fair share, and everybody should play by the same set of rules. And when we do that, then the entire country does better.

The market does better. Business does better. Workers do better. Our children do better. The future is brighter. That’s the vision we shared. That’s the change we believed in. And we knew it wasn’t going to be easy. I told you it wasn’t going to be easy. (Laughter.) I did. We knew it wasn’t going to come quickly. But think about the journey we’ve traveled over the last three years — because of what you did in 2008, because of your effort, we’re starting to see what change looks like. (Applause.)

That seems to be a far cry from stating that Capitalism has failed.

Maybe someone else picked this up after the first page of the thread... but I have to say that I felt real dirty ten minutes ago when I said I agreed with something said by Mr. Shaman, but now, I feel downright filthy for defending President Obama.

Well, I caught it in passing and I thought it said, "It is okay to burn any book". However, I could not believe what I thought I saw and I went back and looked. He actually said, "It is not okay to burn any book".

Normally, I just scroll through his posts.

Yeah...people exercising thier lives unmolested by Government is such a bad thing...point of fact?

That's why we are a Republic and are bound by laws...jackass.

You said the same thing I said, just with different words. Throw money at the rich and the poor will miraculously get richer. The rich have to get richer first before they tinkle on the poor.

"That's why we are a Republic and are bound by laws".

Isn't that basically what Huggy was saying? Huggy is right. Unregulated capitalism is as disasterous as full blown Communism. If we let companies do as they please we would live in an environmental nightmare to say the least. The fewer the regulations the better, but not No regulations.

Conservatives didn't invent the term. Nitwits like you did.

They cant even point to the bill that made that imagination possible. Mention he had a dem congress and the cowards tuck tail.

However when you make law to stengthen a safety net that has become a hammock at the expense of others for the sole purpose of Government controlling the people across the spectrum with total disregard to Liberty?

You might wish to rethink...you cannot have government picking winners and losers. That is part of the discussion here.

Actually it was St Ronnie's budget director David Stockman who first applied the term coined by humorist Will Rogers to Reagan's supply-side voodoo economics.

"It's kind of hard to sell 'trickle down,' so the supply-side formula was the only way to get a tax policy that was really 'trickle down.' Supply-side is 'trickle-down' theory."

Does any one on the left listen to news or see any of Obama's speeches or comments? I heard him say that our capitalism system doesn't work and never has and he does intend to change it. There is only one thing you can take from his words and that is either socialism or communism. If we don't have a free market system, what will we have? I am so tired of people dismissing his radical statements. He said what he said and it shows how he thinks. Time to face up to it and stop ignoring it.

It's always the same thing. Someone gets riled at Obama's latest move or comment and demand a link. They get the link, then refuse to comment further. Go beyond the talking points and think for yourself.

I am absolutely no fan of Obama, but do you have a link to him making such statements. This very thread makes the same claim, but the link that was provided does not support the title of the thread.
