Noise is a much nicer way of saying "saber rattling," which is exactly what's been going on in many quarters. There are people who are just chomping at the bit to get America involved in another shooting war. Thankfully, President Obama is not easily buffaloed.

Now, it surprises me that conservatives have a problem with that. I don't mean, in general. Because God only knows that conservatives (and especially neocons) want to bring us "Shock & Awe Book II." But if Obama threatened (and maybe engaged in) military action against Iran, thereby sucking all the air out of the coming election, wouldn't conservatives accuse him of an October surprise simply as a way of trying to win an election?
