GOP Leader Claims Dem Support for Payroll Tax Cut, Pipeline Package

President Obama's veto threat for a payroll tax cut that includes action on the Keystone oil pipeline is "posturing," the top Senate Republican said Sunday, asserting that enough Democrats support building the pipeline to enable a vote on a GOP-styled compromise.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell told "Fox News Sunday" that his Democratic counterpart, Majority Leader Harry Reid, and the president may want to check with their base before threatening to hold up a House version that calls for tying an extension of the tax holiday to a "shovel-ready" project like the transnational pipeline.

It appears that Obama may not only be out of touch with the country but his own base.

Why in the hell wouldn't Democrats want the jobs the pipeline can fulfill?

I'll be impressed with the yea voting Democrats when the Senate passes this vote

Obama is not interested in jobs or progress. His only goal is to make the gop look bad so people can justify voting for him.

Democrats want anything that will harm the country.

The static advantage of a given democratic president: his base.

They may complain and grumble and be otherwise unhappy – but come election day Obama can count on their votes. There’s no way they’ll vote for a republican, Gingrich in particular.

Staying home is always an option.

There was an actual movement among liberals to boycott the 2010 election in order to send a message to the Democrats. I see no sign of a similar movement now. Don't count on them staying home in similar numbers.

Like what? Do you even have examples that prove that the GOP's policies alone are what can account for economic growth? No, you do not.
