Obama on O'Reilly vs. Palin on Gibson

Only saw the 1st 9 min they posted on YouTube of P on G, but right now have to give the edge to O on O.

He had his usual um and uh moments, but looked much more at ease than she did, and showed a little more knowledge than he does on the stump with his usual "hope, change" speech.

Considering Obama's been doing this for two years now, I would hope to God he's more comfortable with it.

I haven't watched either, but I think Palin is far more poised than Obama. His stuttering is a major turn off for me.

I don't understand how, if you haven't watched either one, you can make the assertion that Palin is more poised?!

and it's not stuttering..his speech pattern isn't a sign of stupdity... perhaps his thoughts just just process faster than his mouth can get them out....

I find it amazing that people are so hung up on the um's and oh's of Obama after having had to listen to that fucking idiot Bush for 8 years who can't string two coherent sentences together most of the time.

I was trying to be generous

that's why the harping on Obama's speech pattern is so odd to me.

IMO, the way he talks shows he's thinking before he speaks...he hasn't had the questions prepared beforehand and he actually has to process the information to formulate the response.

I mistrust anyone who speaks, in an informal setting, and never stumbles over their words a little.

Did anyone watch Obama on Letterman last night? or on the Presidental forum tonight on MSNBC?

He was brilliant in articulating what his vision is for this country...

What O'Reilly does better than any other TV journalist is pin political candidates to very specific positions. Compare O'Reilly's interview with Obama to Mathew's interview. Mathew just let Obama pontificate in his usual meaningless change platitudes and never once tried to pin him down. All O'Rielly did was badger Obama on a point until Obama had to say something SPECIFIC.

What we learned was more about Obama in 30 minutes than the country has learned in almost 2 years on the guy.

1) He will propose the marginal tax rate at the top end only get bumped to 39% from 35%

2) No income tax at all for a family of four with less than $50,000 income.

3) Capital gains goes to 20% from 15% (It was 25% before the Bush tax cuts)

4) He will only bring home a small number of troops from Iraq. Will redeploy most of them and maintain a 20,000 troop level in Iraq PERMANENTLY



Hardly the "socialist dove" the right fears or the left wishes he was....

Bottom line, if he gets elected, hope the left doesn't expect any more out of him than the right got out of Bush...

I think that it is precisely because of Bush's verbal idiocy that people get nervous when they see Obama fumble and flub when he doesn't have a teleprompter in front of him.

As an undecided voter, If I am nervous about Obama's experience-level, seeing him unable to answer a question without hemming and hawing, makes me worry if he is able to think through things on his feet.

On the other hand, after Bush...someone with a severe stutter could look like James Earl Jones!

There's clear signs of stuttering/stammering in his speech pattern.

Huge increases in taxes for those with incomes over $200,000, with penalties for entrepeneurs and employers.
Increased death tax.
Public disarmament.

Capital gains was 20 when Bush took office, Clinton cut it from 28 in 1997. Obama wanted initially to take it to 39, until his advisers informed what the econ conseqences would be.

Majority of taxes paid today by families making less than 50 are payroll taxes, not income taxes. Plus, Obama's plan for no taxes under 50k applies to senior citizens only.
