On June 24, 2008, Obama said in demonizing Bush:

What Washington has done is what Washington always does – it’s peddled false promises, irresponsible policy, and cheap gimmicks that might get politicians through the next election, but won’t lead America toward the next generation of renewable energy. And now we’re paying the price. Now we’ve fallen behind the rest of the world. Now we’re forced to beg Saudi Arabia for more oil. Now we’re facing gas prices over $4 a gallon – gas prices that are decimating the savings of families who are already struggling in this economy. Like the man I met in Pennsylvania who lost his job and couldn’t even afford the gas to drive around and look for a new one. That’s how badly folks are hurting. That’s how badly Washington has failed.

So much for the " no one blamed Bush for high Gas prices" claim.

Tell the guy who can't afford gas in order to find work that we are consuming too much oil and that it is time for alternative energy. If he doesn't like it, it's Bush's fault.

Now bush did invade Iraq which did raise gas prices.
Which might have been his goal all along.
And Obama has mostly continued what Bush started.

Bush is not to blame for high gas prices.

The blame is squarely on the year 1980, when America voter for Reagan (who favored high petroleum use and no sacrifices), as opposed to Carter who said the nation needed to make temporary sacrifices and transition toward alternatives/conservation. Carter said that our economy would some day be destroyed by the $5 gallon - Reagan said he was crazy and that oil would plentiful forever. Carter asked the nation to create a moonshot around moving 40% of energy use off petroleum. Reagan called him a looney lefty, and then proceeded to triple our military investment in the middle east to safeguard our growing energy assets in the region. When asked to price the military costs of oil into a barrel of oil, Reagan declined - because he wanted to prevent a price signal which would trigger investment in alternatives and conservation. Reagan was a great president, but he was funded heavily by big oil.

The rising demand of China, India, and the developing world has put an unprecedented strain on a rapidly dwindling supply of oil. Carter predicted this. He said that Reagan and his team were suppressing the truth of dwindling oil supplies. He said Reagan was suppressing the real costs of middle east dependency.

But, seriously, we have plenty of domestic energy (says the same people who've tied us to oil)

No combination of oil shale or tar sands or domestic drilling will replace the dying middle eastern supplies. We needed to spend the last 30 years transitioning off petroleum - and we didn't. People don't get it. They are being lied to by Big Oil and its GOP politicians. We have spent the last three decades misallocating resources into a dead-end energy future. And we did this because special interests took over one of our political parties - and they dumped loads of money into right wing media.

We chose economic death in 1980 - we chose Reagan, oil, and the middle east. We could have spent the last 30 years moving a percentage of our energy use off petrochemicals. We could have built energy efficient autos and conservation models for urbanization. We could moved more of our shipping, transportation, and manufacturing off high petroleum models, but Reagan said America didn't need to make any sacrifices for future generations. He gave America an easy, no pain alternative - and they voted for it.

Now, we're paying the price.

Do you know who killed the first electric care movement? Do you know why?

Big oil owns the GOP, and they've been able to keep us tied to the world's highest petroleum use for decades. Now, it's too late to switch to alternatives and conservation.

The special interests bought Washington, funded GOP elections, and systematically crushed energy competition. Now, we're tied to an energy source which is too small to satisfy growing demand. The price will keep rising.

Big Business used an actor... and they drugged people with religion, fear, and patriotism to win election after election.

The game is over.

Well, guess what Ronnie - we're compromising now with a dead-end energy future.

Has anyone else noticed that Barak is hen-pecked and Michelle runs the country?

Like Nancy with her astrologers?

Nancy had too much class to berate her husband.

Michelle wears the pants in this first family.

One does not have to berate their husband/wife in public to be their boss.
Nancy was clearly Rons boss. After all she came into the deal with all the money.
He was a liberal till he married her.
:D
