If the Bush tax cuts for people making over 200,000 expire, a person making 250,000 dollars a year will owe less than 300 dollars more than they did last year.

A person making 250k a year at 35 percent will pay approx 87K in taxes, with no withholdings. Of course that all changes with amount of dependents, write offs etc. A person making 250k a year at 39.6 percent will pay approx 98k in taxes. It will be substantially more than 300 bucks. And of course the AMT comes in to kick your ass too.

A good rebuttal would have been to point out that Bush did somewhat of the same thing. But what he did was to send a letter prior to the cut..and hit the public with a one time check. This was probably banked..whereas Obama's cut was pretty quiet..and that probably did more to stimulate the economy..then Bush's cut. Because it was not noticed, it was probably spent.

For a moment, let's assume that Obama did actually reduce taxes (although the reality is that he's raised taxes in aggregate 20X more than he has lowered them):

If Obama did indeed reduce taxes, then what he has done is engaged in enormous spending increases and driven the country deep into debt without a tax base to support such spending.

That's not a better scenario than having raised taxes and engaged in a spending binge.
