Please! We have enough problems with the politicians here and already in our jails.

Actually, it's the citizens of the county who lobbied to get Gitmo detainees. They want them because they're rational and see that there is no serious threat of escape nor added threat of having detainees housed there, as terrorists are not X-Men with super criminal powers, and it would be a help to the local economy.

No one sees a problem with this? Been mostly vacant since it was built in 2001, in spite of the fact that IL prisons are over crowded.

There are maybe 100 low security inmates there now. So, going to need to employ 3000 new workers, in a max facility. Now the chances of any sort of attack by inflamed Islamicists would be what? Why not keep them in NY, where the trials will be?
