I'd like to think that Obama isn't using his aged and ailing grandmother as a political tool gain the sympathy vote.
Why would he have to? He has McCain spending a fortune right now trying to defend states that went to Bush in 2000 and 2004.

On a purely political note has Obama given the McCain campaign an opening for a discussion of Rev. Wright since Obama invoked his Grandma in his "race speech"?
They need an opening to smear Obama? Since when?
But you're even lower than I thought.
Good for you. You're a good little paid operative.
Now sit ubu, sit.

McCain will not bring up the Rev. Wright association. He has declared it off limits. He does not seem to mind dragging Obama's political associations into light -- aka Ayers -- because this reflects how Obama feels about America.
He will not bring up Wright because that reflects firstly how Obama feels about God, and that is no one's business but Obama's.
Just my opinion. I could be wrong.

My guess is Wright is getting back in the discussion one way or the other and it has everything to do with Obama's judgement and honesty.
Does anyone in America think Obama wasn't aware of Wright's anti-American views after Obama attended his Church twice a month for 20 years?
If Obma wasn't aware of Wright's views that is even scarier.

Although I disagree with the idea wholeheartedly, I am willing to accept that some people have become so cynical about the candidates that they would wonder about a person's "motives" for going to be with their grandmother while she's ill...
But I can't believe that you would be silly enough to think that McCain would win anything but widespread scorn and well-deserved derision if he used a sick woman to attempt to bring up Obama's relationship with Rev. Wright again. That would be political suicide for the McCain/Palin ticket.

"His suspension of his campaign is indicative of his strong affection and love for his grandmother," said state Sen. Clayton Hee, D-23rd, (Kaneohe, Kahuku), an early Obama supporter."

P.S. I think there's more to this trip then meets the eye...
No one cares.
The public already has spoken about the Ayers thing and the guilt by association is stupid, reflects bady on McCain and hurt him, rather than helped him in the polls and cost him endorsements... same as when Hillary went too far.
And psssst... What Ayers did has zero meaning in terms of Obama's views.
As for not calling up the ghost of rev wright, you might want to have a chat with McCain's campaign director who said yesterday, it's back on the table...
desperation has an ugly stench...
The public has spoken? Gee, I know the media has spoken for us, but contrary to what Chris Matthews and the gang have to say, many voters DO care about Obama's past political associations.
Why? Because what Ayers did has clear and legitmate meaning in terms of it's reflection on Obama. Go ahead and think otherwise, though. I want you to. The more you libs look the other way on this, the better off we "Joe the Plumber" Americans are.

I smell bullshit. Hussein doesn't give a flying fuck about his family. Look at his brother starving to death in Africa.
Then again his brother isn't wealthy or connected. His grandmother must be loaded. If she was as poor as his brother he'd kick her to the curb too.
I'm waiting for someone to explain that to me. and if it reflects poorly on him for associating with him after the fact does it also reflect poorly on all the Republicans who ALSO associated with him?
how does what Ayers did 40 years ago reflect on Obama? I'm waiting for someone to explain that to me. and if it reflects poorly on him for associating with him after the fact does it also reflect poorly on all the Republicans who ALSO associated with him?
Obama didn't sit on that board alone with Ayers ya know.
and I think the polls would indicate that the majority of Americans don't give a crap about Ayers OR wright.
