WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama is leading his Republican rival John McCain 53 percent to 43 percent among likely voters, according to a Washington Post-ABC News opinion poll released on Monday.

Sixty-four percent of voters now view Obama favorably, up six percentage points from early September, according to the poll taken after Tuesday night's presidential debate. The final debate before the Nov. 4 election is Wednesday.

ABC News' George Stephanopoulos reports: The presidential election is now just 22 days away, and Barack Obama is leading John McCain by a whopping 53 percent to 43 percent according to the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll.

No candidate has ever lost with a lead like this since modern polling began in 1936.

Americans are in a very angry mood right now and that is helping Obama.

A record high of 90 percent of the country believes we're going in the wrong direction right now.

A vast majority of the nation, 73 percent of the country, disapproves of the job President George W. Bush is doing. No president has ever had a higher disapproval rating, not even President Richard Nixon at the height of Watergate.

I thought I heard FOX news say that the lead was down to 4 point?

Kirk, if you really want Obama to win, then you need to contribute some time/money to him now, because McPalin is making a big push in your home state starting this week.

Sorry, McCain is done.

You have to have ideas to win, not a smear campaign.

The voters are smarter this year.

Yeah, who is she "pushing" out of a job now?
