the op is correct but omits two very important facts about bush's "recovery" the first fact is that while the "official" recession ended about six months after it started, it was a jobless recovery (the first one in our nations history) because while the Dow and the S&P 500 started to rebound (while the Nasdaq never recovered) the unemployment rate stayed higher than the period before the recession for several years, and the jobs that were lost (mainly manufacturing and tech) were higher paying with more benefits then the ones gained (mainly low-skilled service sector jobs) when the real recovery (i.e.when people got employed) started.

second omitted fact is that the way Bush spurred this jobless recovery was through tax cuts for the top 2 percent earners and coupled with alan greenspan lowering the interest
rate to nearly 1 percent which sparked... the real estate boom, and eventual bust.

if he can be credited with the the first then he must accept the blame for the latter

Then, when Bush II was in office the market responded by initiating the real estate boom...which busted.

Praising Clinton or Bush II (or faulting them) for these events is unsound reasoning.

Sorry, but I know my American history well and I can tell you that our system of government (warts and all) is still the best in the world and the one that every other country will try to emulate, even if in bits and pieces. Until something better comes along, we need to live with the mistakes along with the greater accomplishments, the latter being far far more numerous.
