don't rely on Fox News.
ALL Presidents for 20 years have said the same.
"Based on the 1967 borders" is NOT the "exact 1967 borders". (the latter the Hamas position).
In fact conspicuously not.
The Prez's position is the same as Clinton and Bush/s.

"Based on 67 borders" but including Land Swaps that enable Israel to keep the near in settlements and their 300,000 residents. (Bush admin called this "recognizing facts on the ground")

Obama Transcript
Blue Virginia:: Video, Transcript of Obama's Middle East Speech. Reaction Almost Completely Predictable.

"...As for Israel, our friendship is rooted deeply in a shared history and shared values. Our commitment to Israel's security is unshakeable. And we will stand against attempts to single it out for criticism in international forums. But precisely because of our friendship, it is important that we tell the truth: the status quo is unsustainable, and Israel too must act boldly to advance a lasting peace.

The fact is, a growing number of Palestinians live west of the Jordan River. Technology will make it harder for Israel to defend itself."..."

Ultimately, it is up to Israelis and Palestinians to take action. No peace can be imposed upon them, nor can endless delay make the problem go away. But what America and the international community can do is state frankly what everyone knows: a lasting peace will involve two states for two peoples. Israel as a Jewish state and the homeland for the Jewish people, and the state of Palestine as the homeland for the Palestinian people; each state enjoying self-determination, mutual recognition, and peace.

So while the core issues of the conflict must be negotiated, the basis of those negotiations is clear: a viable Palestine, and a secure Israel. The United States believes that negotiations should result in two states, with permanent Palestinian borders with Israel, Jordan, and Egypt, and permanent Israeli borders with Palestine. The borders of Israel and Palestine should be Based on the 1967 lines with Mutually Agreed Swaps, so that Secure and Recognized borders are established for both states. The Palestinian people must have the right to govern themselves, and reach their potential, in a sovereign and contiguous state.

As for security, every state has the right to self-defense, and Israel must be able to defend itself - by itself - against any threat. Provisions must also be robust enough to prevent a resurgence of terrorism; to Stop the infiltration of weapons; and to provide effective border security. The full and phased withdrawal of Israeli military forces should be coordinated with the assumption of Palestinian security responsibility in a sovereign, Non-militarized state."...."

These principles provide a foundation for negotiations. Palestinians should know the territorial outlines of their state; Israelis should know that their basic security concerns will be met.[....]In particular, the recent announcement of an agreement between Fatah and Hamas raises profound and legitimate questions for Israel - how can one negotiate with a party that has shown itself unwilling to recognize your right to exist. In the weeks and months to come, Palestinian Leaders will Have to provide a credible answer to that question."..."

Next time don't trust Faux News or Glenn beck or your uninformed brethren here.

Palestinians do have a credible answer to that question. Well at least the ones we refuse to talk to.

I am not sure that anyone has ever asked. I do know that it is very common for Palestinians to refer to Israel as 1948 occupied Palestine.

From administration to administration, nothing changes.

"Single acts of tyranny may be ascribed to the accidental opinion of a day. But a series of oppressions, begun at a distinguished period, and pursued unalterably through every change of ministers, too plainly proves a deliberate systematic plan of reducing us to slavery." -- Thomas Jefferson

^^ Back to the conspiracy forums with you. :p

I don't think I understand the point you're trying to make here.

Sorry, I thought it was pretty clear. Well, okay, since we are talking about the policy of Israel and how nothing changes from President to President, I thought I would give food for thought at how corrupt it all is. We're still in bogus wars from one President to the next who just starts more wars. Nothing will change with Israel, because they own us.

Any offer to anyone, who had nothing, is generous, but for palistan arabs, who are, understandably, deluded into believeing they had it all, any offer is not enough, of course.

I'm a little lost on these discussions regarding President Obamas position on Israel and the territories Israel occupied in the 1967 war. Every president beginning with Lyndon Johnson through our current president believed that Israels expansion of settlements to be "illegal or in violation of the 4th Geneva Convention. President Reagan went soft on that policy during his administration as well as Bush I. I did notice that there are some people in here who read history and some of the policies our government churns out. but there really seems to be a disconnect with others. They either truly hate President Obama for expressing a "True" or they refuse to rely on there own research before commenting on this subject. The internet has made it so easy for average Americans to educate themselves on a variety of matters, yet, some refuse to do that and rely only the media.
