Obama is too uppity to be president

Despising rednecks isn't racist, but it's still bigoted.

I thought it was because they had red necks. Go figure.

That's bullshit. Redneck is not a term associated with racism anywhere I have lived. Most pretty much ARE the blue collar man, one of the origins of the terms being people who worked outside for a living so they had red, sunburned necks.

What have you been fighting? You mean you've been stereotyping and denigrating a class of people based on the above oh-so-ignorant definition? I'm impressed.

Rednecks are rednecks and racists are racists. If the latter happen to claim to be the former, it doesn't mean their beliefs are accepted by the former.

The biggest racist on this board is a freakin' yankee lawyer, btw. Figure THAT one out and get back to me.

I'm a redneck and I don't give a damned who doesn't like it. I also don't give a damn what color suntan you got while you ain't liking it, and I probably despise racism every bit as much as you do if not more.

It's funny how much the 1st response changes the direction of a thread.

I think hes from the south, he pulled the piggly wiggly out of his bag earlier.... That being said, Rednecks are not the common blue collar man.. They are the biggest group of racist ignorant sons of bitches that I've ever met.. granted the republican party as a whole is not far behind.... I've been fighting them my entire life and I aint stoppin now...

Do not diminish the reputation of the american blue collar worker by associating them with rednecks...

Ahhh... the typical elitist liberal... so ashamed of what an American is or ashamed of American culture.... pretentious, Europe sucking elitism is to be admired, while celebrating our culture is frowned upon...

Much like McCain being bashed by the media for appearing at a concert in Sturgis, while Obama is praised for being at a concert with the Germans... the liberal disgust at their country's own culture... and I must also add that the 'redneck' is then touted as racist, while the inner city urban male shouting against the 'white man' is well and fine

As for me... if you consider Maryland south... I'm in the south... spent time at Ft. Gordon, GA, and in PA... traveled all over this great land and seen more of it than the average person... far from a racist in every way, but that will never stop a lib from trying to portray me that way because it is a way to attack using the lowest common denominator... shock value works wonders with other libs

I don't know and I don't care ... but I think the 'n' word is offensive, or at least it should be to everyone.

We white people have been called "Redneck's, Crackers, Poor White Trash, “wanna-be” gangsta, White Boy/Girl ...... whatever. Could be considered "offensive" too. What's the point? Racism is Racism - it only matters whose mouth it is coming from. So please do not call me any of the "white" names I have mentioned. I am white, lacking color, Caucasian. Plain and simple, those are acceptable to me.

People that use any of the terms above - are trying to incite, make something out of nothing - which is what it would be if the terms were dropped - nothing!

As far as "uppity" ......
Online Etymology Dictionary - http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/uppity
1880, from up; originally used by blacks of other blacks felt to be too self-assertive (first recorded use is in "Uncle Remus"). The parallel British variant uppish (1678) originally meant "lavish;" the sense of "conceited, arrogant" being first recorded 1734.

This term (uppity) is from the past. Get over it.

Bush lover's a troll who fancies him/herself a satirist. There's really nothing to comment on.

Jeepers on the other hand made an ignorant, and false accusation and denigrated a large portion of American society because he considers himself better.

What's the difference between THAT and a white supremicist? Nothing. He's a social/status snob rather than a race snob.

Who cares? Quit giving labels importance and they cease to be important. If I need an excuse to be offended I'll just ask some dude why he's eyeballing my wife.

If thats the case I am proud of my ignorance and stand by my comments... My accusations are not false however and my comments regarding rednecks only pertain to those earning that title...

Heres a quick test for ya Gunster... The Confederate Battleflag...

a) Its a sign of heritage and hate
b) Its a sign of heritage not hate

Your answer is the difference between being either a Southerner or a Redneck..

The battle flag had nothing to do with Hate. As Gunny and others have so well put it, MOST of the men that fought under that flag were not nor ever would have been slave owners. Most were simply people duped into believing their State was endangered by the Federal Government. You might be able to make an argument that the actual Country flag for the Confederacy was hateful though.

Oh... the same "ignorant rednecks" that are the common blue collar man, the workers, that you liberals claim to want to help yet bash at every chance you get???

FYI the first "rednecks" were the moonshiners of Western Pennsylvania who participated Shay's Whiskey rebellion.

They wore red handkerchefs so they could more easily identify themselves in the various fracuses that happened before Washinton sent in troops to quell their rebellion.

This was before smokeless powder, so finding you team was often difficult.

Shay's Whiskey rebellion is important moment in American history, AFAIC, because that was the FIRST example of the Federal government screwing the working class (in this case farmers who turned their corn into whiskey) for the benefit of the monied interests (in this case the rum distillers of the big east coast towns.)

And the crime these moonshiners committed?

REVENUE evasion...you see, the government set up the system for taxing booze such that big distillers paid far less per gallon for thier booze than small distillers did for theirs.

So "rednecks" aren't Southerners, niether are they reactionaries...they're just working stiffs who are getting screwed by their government for the benefit of the government's friends.

Least-wise that's my read on that term.

They are, least those were, honorable people.

Did you see Obama making a speech to the anti-American Germans in Berlin? He acted like he was president. This young naive fellow is already arrogant and condescending, even though he has accomplished nothing relevant in his life. He uses big words and such but offers nothing more than warmed-over Socialism and appeasement, soak the rich, and all of that old Commie stuff. Obama is way out of his league, way in over his head, and way too uppity for me. Senator McClain has dignity, experience and is a self-made man who can relate to the successful people who run our country and economy. He is the perfect successor to our President Bush and Vice President Cheney. And he will keep the Socialist Democrat Party away from us for another eight years!

I agree, Sen. John McCain, seems to be more down to Earth, and trust worthy.A real American Politician.
Obama gives me the impression that he will say anything to get him self
elected. He just doesn't seem to stand for any thing, and he is starting to flip flop a lot on many issues now.
