Obama - Is he bad?

Hello everyone, I'd like to introduce myself. My alias on here is Cannafield. I turned eighteen in May and just voted this year for McCain. To be honest with you, I feel that my vote was misinformed. In good conscience, as a Jew - I did not vote Obama in because I don't believe he'll support Israel if they go to war with Iran which is very likely to happen. And since I'm moving there sometime next year to work on a kibbutz, I can't rightfully support someone that I feel unsure of when it comes to Israels safety. Not to mention a number of socialist policies he's instituting (i.e. state mandating community service for students, welfare reformations, etc). So, I'd like to ask some questions about him. This is not a flame thread or anything, and I'm sure there have been a few other threads like this out there before, too. But, since I seem to have a natural inclination to not trust him I feel that I should be more informed about the things he's saying and doing since he is our new president. Keep in mind though, I don't trust McCain either - but I do more so than Obama.

I'm hoping perhaps someone who knows a bit more than me could inform me as to why electing Obama is the right way. It seems to me that all the hype around Obama is hero worship. I do respect him. A black man becoming the president is quiet a significant thing in America, unquestionably. And I respect him for winning the publics vote, since it was only but a few decades ago when we were still segregated. The mans track record I still find to be very "shady", for lack of a better word. I do realize during the election time, a great deal of things put out about him were smears. But, smears are usually based on half truths or things taken out of context. So, hopefully someone can clear some crucial questions up I have about him. Also, I have done a fair amount of googling on him - and have concluded that he is most certainly going to change things. But, in what ways I ponder the most.

Question 1: National Civilian Security Force? I saw a clip of him saying that we need to build a national civilian security force the size of our military, just as powerful and well funded. I've heard very little about this, and what I've gathered has entirely been from google and youtube - I keep away from blogs mostly though. I did see the speech of him stating what he wanted to say in the 2:53 second clip, but not the whole thing. From what I gather, he describes some of the things he wants to do with it, but I'm still unclear of its purposes. Using them for agricultural projects and what not alongside our millitary as if they're some kind of philanthropist branch of the military? This sounds suspicious to me.

Why is it that this to me sounds like another Waffen SS, or something to set the stage for it? Why not simply expand other non-profit organizations or create new ones to do the same thing, but not dubbed as a security force? I mean, by the sounds of it - it comes across as though he wants to create a whole new military force or something of that order that will likely be domestically operated. If not, it sounds at least to have intentions of potentially operating domestically. Could someone clear this up for me? By the sounds of it, the man is anti-gun and wants to install a new branch of the military in case of a domestic terrorist threat? Is that right? Because, if so - doesn't that sound like setting the stage for fascism?

Question 2: Why is it that the mainstream media has not touched on Obama's birth certificate issue? I'm well aware that they provided a certificate of LIVE BIRTH, and not a birth certificate - which is in fact different. Most of us have to produce records like these for jobs and a drivers license, why has the Obama campaign been so smoke and mirrors on this one? I've done a bit of research on this one and read how it was debunked on a few different websites, but none of them to my recollection even touched on the fact that they're both different documents all together. I don't necessarily doubt that Obama is an American, but the fact that no mainstream media outlet, including Fox News (which is notoriously known amongst the left as being way to the right and "unbiased"), has even touched on it. I mean, Phillip Berg, a democrat to my knowledge, filed the first lawsuit against him for this and he failed to produce an actual birth certificate, instead claiming that a certificate of live birth is not acceptable... why did he Obama not produce one? Why not just release his actual birth certificate? I can't see what would stop him. I do see it as a potential smear campaign. However, I try to look at both sides of the coin because this is a serious accusation to make against him - ESPECIALLY if a democrat filed the suit.

Question 3: I still couldn't find an all conclusive statement about this, but it's a pretty yes or no question about him. Does Obama support the Fairness Doctrine? I've heard he does, I've heard he doesn't. If I can see a link or something saying that he doesn't, I'd be quiet satisfied. Couldn't find it on his site, really. The only things I could gather seemed to be manufactured sentences put together to boast his popularity.

- Thank you and I hope someone will take the time to respond. Because, just like most of you, I'm another person trying to understand what's going on in this world and get ahead in life. So, I'll try and remain as dialectic as I can and respond to any questions directed at me... assuming you all take the time to answer.

It wasnt wise to vote for either candidate. Were screwed with either one of these jerks in office.Neither one of them is for us.Both Obama and MCcain respresent whast good for big businesses and big corporations which are the people who control the government.Neither one believe in the constitution of the united states. The only candidate who was for the people and the only one to have put in a vote for was Ron Paul.He is the only one who is for the people and believes the people should have control over the government because more importantly,he was the only one of the candidates who believes in the constitution.
