If the U.S. controls the internet... then how have China, Russia, Iran, and other countries been able to censor their internet for 20+ years? Why did the U.S. allow that?

Just another failure...there is a long,long list of them...but from what I have read they have developed sophisticated technology that allows them to do it of which we could not overcome even if we had wanted....but you are taking the term 'control' a little too literally ...the reality is America has allowed other nations the freedom to do what they want...for good or bad.

Even if we were able to overide Chinas sophisticated technology that allow them to censor their nations internet does anyone think it would be done? Does anyone now or did anyone in the previous administrations have the balls for that..of course not....the goal is to prevent any friction with china...the last thing this or any administration wanted was trouble with China...we bend over backwards to accomodate them.....well....after all...look at the trillions of dollars they have loaned us.
