This is popping up all over the net. Obama and Holder have set up a hotline and email address for illegals to report on State and local law enforcement.

I didn't believe it at first, but hot air just published the phone number and email addy.

Shit man I never thought I'd see this day when the White House and the Administration truly is the enemy of the citizens of the country and instead is the bosom buddy of illegal immigrants. And the administration is at war with the States.

The world is upside down.

Think of how this can be abused. Any complaint by anybody means a lawman will be under investigation by the DOJ. How many calls and emails will start flowing in over Sheriff Joe?

The Justice Department has set up a hotline for the public to report potential civil rights concerns regarding the Arizona law that requires police to check the immigration status of those they stop for other reasons.

Reagan passed the largest amnesty bill in the nation's history. There was not one peep from the Republican base because conservative information sources under-reported the story.

Under Bush, Karl Rove pushed for an even more liberal amnesty policy than anything imagined by Obama. He did this as a response to the electoral reality of a growing hispanic population. This is why Bush's "Ownership Society" targeted poor Latino's for home ownership.

The problem with the Arizona law is that it dramatically expands the powers of local government. It gives too much power to the state. [Republicans who listen to a lot of talk radio or media sources of equally low substance tend not to understand this kind of thing] For instance, imagine if a rogue Lefty prosecutor were elected in Arizona. Imagine if he wanted to make trouble for gun owners. This law gives him the power to stop, detain and search without sufficient oversight. All he need is say that "X" appeared to be one in violation of the illegal immigration statute - but, and here is where you lose some conservatives: there is no evidentiary oversight with which to review the state's decision. This puts absolute discretion - unchecked power - in the hands of law enforcement. Let's say law the enforcement was controlled by a partisan who didn't want gun owners voting. He could use his powers under this law to stop, detain and cause trouble for virtually anyone. He could go on phishing expeditions of gun owners until he found something. He could conduct searches of any group he wanted and there is no over-arching body who can review his decision in order to make sure it fit the intent of the law. This is why some of us don't want unlimited power in State or Federal government. [Republicans tend to give unlimited power to the state in matters of law enforcement. The Reagan War on Drugs and the Bush War on Terrorism gave local and Federal law enforcement agencies more concentrated power than anything ever imagined by FDR or LBJ. The GOP scares under-educated voters with images of Bin Laden or illegals in order to make the state more powerful. ]

It would be great if we could deport all the rule-breaking illegal immigrants. Labor costs in places like Southern California would triple overnight. This would give American workers the kind of leverage that Reagan feared. Part of the reason behind Reagan's unprecedented Amnesty Bill was to break union control of labor. Business thrives in an environment where illegals drive wages down. Part of the reason wages were so high during WWII years was because the war drained the labor market. Business hated this. They had to accept far lower profits. Business thrives in an environment where an illegal will work for the half as much. (This is the point of capitalism which seeks a higher return on investment through - among other things - reduced labor costs, reduced raw material costs, reduced costs period! Capitalism doesn't want closed borders you fucking morons. Please turn off talk radio)

Has anybody witnessed the development of Global Capitalism since Reagan? Do you know why Reagan put military bases all over the 3rd world? [Please turn off talk radio] Reagan built military bases partly to expand and stabilize vital resource markets. Where do to think your clothing, energy, and 80% of the products you buy/need comes from? This stuff comes from the developing world, which supplies American capital with ultra-cheap labor and raw material. Do you what would happen to the American and global economy if someone shut down the supply route from freedom-hating countries like China to the USA? Capitalism is utterly dependent on freedom-hating sweat-shops form the 3rd world. Do you know what would happen if Iran blocked the Strait of Hormuz? One of the major objectives (and successes) of the Reagan Revolution was to break down borders and merge all governments under the rule of American investment capital - and to militarize regions where capital's access to vital resources like oil were threatened. Don't you get it? Capital will open borders by force to ensure its access to raw material and cheap labor.

Point us: If an illegal immigrant can increase profits by doing a job for pennies (and sleeping in a rat infested slum), than the private sector wants access to that labor. Study Milton Friedman. "Borders, Language, Culture" is an externality. Capitalism doesn't want borders. It does whatever is necessary to give investors a higher return. It has no use for a diversity of nation states with a dizzying variety of efficiency sapping regulations. Capital wants a predictable, unified, one-world solution where every part of the globe is 100% open to its investment. It doesn't want cultural autonomy or tradition because these things limit capital. Again: capital requires unlimited access to all the world's labor and raw material - and it doesn't want to be stopped at every border by different laws, languages, and cultures. (You fucking morons). Capital's ability to break-down borders is why capitalism is the most productive machine history has ever created - because it bulldozes things like borders for a higher return on investment.

Republican voters need to turn off talk radio. Markets are not free if capital is obstructed at every border. It was capitalism that opened the Mexican border. It was trade liberalization, which was the point of the Reagan Revolution. Business has no need of the border separating Mexico from the USA if that border prevents access to higher returns (through cheaper labor and raw materials). You need to turn of Rush Limbaugh and study the logic of capital.
