During an interview with ABC's "Nightline" for broadcast Tuesday night, Obama said he always expected he'd have to give the race speech, but that he didn't anticipate the subject would come up in the way that it did.

"This is a big leap for the country," he said. "Even me being the nominee is a big leap and then, obviously, actually being the president is a big leap. ... What I want to do is to make sure that we understand that my campaign is not premised on that, it's not premised on making history, but that, whoever is president, this is always going to be an ongoing issue that we have to struggle with and that, perhaps, I can lend some special insight into."

Of course, this is a bald-faced lie.

Barack Obama, Sept. 28, 2007:
"It is because of these victories that a black man named Barack Obama can stand before you today as a candidate for President of the United States of America. But I am not just running to make history. I'm running because I believe that together, we can change history's course."

Barack Obama on Jan. 7, the day before the NH primary:
"I hope all of you are not only going to the polls yourselves tomorrow," he said, "but also that you're going to be grabbing some people and telling them we are about to make history here and you want to be a part of it."

Barack Obama, Jan. 31:
"We have the opportunity to make history because I think one of us two will end up being the next president of the United States of America," Obama said, sitting next to the former first lady."

In fact, there's 563 mentions of the phrase "make history" on barackobama.com and another 1,750 mentions of "making history" on the candidate's website alone

So... where's the "change"?

However lame you think it might be, its undeniably true.

Like Hillary, Obama will say what he needs to say to whom he needs to say it.

Where's the "change"?

While I can definitely agree with you that Obama is a fraud, I certainly hope you don't think for some reason that McCain is any different than those other two. He's a career DC politician. Washington didn't change. He did, just like any other politician.

I'm not one that sees Obama as the second coming of Christ but this is the lamest reason I've seen yet to not vote for him.

I agree with Ravir...

but here a little sompin to make the obama haters' tail wag.

He means the campaign wasn't started to make history. That doesn't mean they aren't going to make history, just thats not the purpose of it.

But nice grasping for straws there. Its amazing how desperate some of you folks are.

Let the lies and bigotry begin.

Hey, how about your McCain who can't tell a Sunni from a Shiite?

How about his lie about being against the tax breaks and now he is for them?

Yah, Obama is a liar and your candidate is a fukking saint.:eusa_liar:

I don’t see this as a lie. How do you define the word “premise”? It is to set forth beforehand, or as introductory to the main subject; to offer previously, as something to explain or aid in understanding what follows; especially, to lay down premises or first propositions, on which rest the subsequent reasonings.

Did Obama say that he was not going to make history? No. Everyone makes history. I ate caviar for the first time today. That is part of history. Of course he is going to make history. He might be the first Black president. That would be historic.

Obama talks about change. If you want to know what changes he has in mind, simply look at his web site or go to

Are you for real?

McCain a CAREER politician?

The man is a CAREER soldier, he gave his "all", and you disrespect him?

Your the one, that needs an education on what is right, and what is wrong.

Piss off..............:eusa_wall:

Perhaps you want to talk to SE about disrespecting John McCain... disagreeing with him, or thinking he's like any other politician isn't that...

calling him "mcpain" like SE does, and denying him his name... now THAT'S disrespect.

McCain was in the military for 21 years.

McCain was a politician for 28 years. Yeah I'd say hes been a career politician.

I was supportive of Obama until I saw him buckle under the Pastor situation recently, trying to make everybody happy like a lousy leader. I would have had more respect for him had he either completely denounced his pastor or supported him, but the wishy-washy statements officially made him a typical DC politician.

Is John Edwards still available to jump back in?

McCain served in the military. He was even a POW. No one is denying that or criticizing him for his service. Having said that, I also say that 1982, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. After serving two terms, he was elected to the U.S. Senate from Arizona in 1986. He was re-elected Senator in 1992, 1998, and 2004. Based on that, I consider McCain to be a career politician. He was a career soldier. Now he is a career politician.

and just to be correct...I am sure that John McCain would take issue with anyone calling him a career soldier. He was a career sailor. He was a career naval officer. He weren't no damn soldier. Soldiers go to West Point.

If you didn't have Hilary and Obamas name in here I would have sworn you were talking about George Bush. Actually what politician doesn't act like that? Please. Get a better argument then come back for more.
