While we are speaking of the kind of government we have, or should have, let's remember that today

November 15, is our anniversary, sort of....

1777 Congress adopts Confederation Articles of perpetual union of United States of America, which are sent to states for ratification (completed 1781) as first US constitution. A major flaw in the document was the failure of the states to grant taxing power to the Congress. As a result, Congress had to resort to flimsy financial expedients like borrowing and printing reams of paper money, which depreciated rapidly. Alexander Hamilton began examining ideas for a national bank.

March 1, 1781 The new United States was actually formed with the
adoption of the Articles of Confederation. Although the document was agreed upon by Congress on Nov. 15, 1777, but was not signed until Maryland agreed to it on this date.
Upon the signing, John Hanson (the first man to serve a full term in this position) is considered to be the first President, from 11/5/1781 to 11/3/1782
