Every nation redistributes its wealth. Can anyone name a country that doesn't redistrubte its wealth? In fact, many economic textbooks list redistribution of wealth as one the functions of government. How a nation redistributes its wealth is a responsibility of its economic system, government policies and economic conditions. England was heavy into the new world's economic system and as soon as the ink was dry on our new Constitution the government was involved in the new economy, at first helping business, then regulating business and in the Great Depression helping people. "Redistibution of Wealth" has now become a code word for the helping of people not business.

Social Security is an earned entitlement, just like pensions and military disability compensation. Earned means that the person receiving the benefit did something to warrant that compensation. Tax refunds are nothing more than getting back the excess that you had withheld for the purpose of paying your taxes. It is your own money.

Welfare is giving money and goods to people who have not earned it. That is a form of income redistribution. So is the earned income tax credit. It is welfare. That is the government taking from people who do pay taxes, and giving to people who do not pay taxes.

The simple fact that many of you cannot seem to understand the real meanings of many of these terms, indicates that your education has been seriously faulty. Or, it means that you are just blowing smoke in an attempt to explain away the flaws in your messiah.

Bullcrap! Government has specified responsibilities, and it is legitimate to spend funds to carry out those responsibilities. Paying for the military is no more redistribution, than your buying a loaf of bread is redistribution. Both are a simple act of trading one asset for another asset of equal value.

Now, if that grocer gives you the loaf of bread for free, or you pay for the loaf of bread and do not take it, that is redistribution.

What is disaster relief?

That all depends on what disaster relief you are talking about. Reestablishing necessary infrastructure, rescuing people and providing emergency food, water, and shelter, is a legitimate function of government.
