Obama Has Delivered On His Promise!

Obama campaigned in 2008 promising hope and change. And he has delivered.

I HOPE all the new taxes, regulation, government agencies etc he has created will not put me out of business. Or worse.

When he was running we had relatively low unemployment, low inflation, low taxes, and a deficit that was moderate. Wow, what a CHANGE!
Go Obama. Run on that record, ya putz!

:lol::lol: When Obama was running, the shit hadn't yet hit the fan economically. You're seriously comparing figures from before the economic meltdown (which had nothing to do with Obama) to figures from after the economic meltdown, and then blaming Obama for the mess? Also, taxes are at the lowest since 1950. And what are all of these agencies and regulations that are destroying your life? What the fuck are you talking about?

You must have been fucking born yesterday. The economy went into free fall during the election. Remember McCain talking about suspending his campaign to help fix the problem? Of course the economy was going into the shitter. Who came up with TARP? Why was that necessary?
Obama inherited a recovery and made it worse.

Obama inherited a recovery? Did you really write that? Talk about being born yesterday. You're too fucking stupid to be born. How does the economy going into a free fall have anything to do with Obama? And who came up with TARP, you ask? Here's a hint: it wasn't Obama. Jesus Christ, you're an idiot.

You do know that a low inflation (as opposed to 0 or negative) is a good thing, right? An inflation rate of 2.75% is pretty much ideal.

Wrong. Inflation is just a way for the government to rob you. It's theft, pure and simple.

I think inherited is the wrong word.

Because of the last election business owners feel more confident then they've been in over 3 years.

The housing market is still crap but jobs are starting to trickle back. If you listen to this administration, with all their talk about salary-caps, with bail-out after bail-out going to unions, listened to Progressives talk about evil profits, well, it just seemed like an extremely hostile business environment.

The simple fact that the GOP won back the House was enough to start the ball rolling. All Obama has to do is do nothing on the domestic front and the economy will slowly start improving primarily because the lag in recovery was based on fear of what this idiot would do. Any more of the kind of spending we've witnessed, any more government takeovers will cause more fear to spread. Some feel that sanity has finally returned to Washington. We have a long way to go, but the election was a good start and gave business owners some hope.

If SEIU, friends of Obama, starts up their crash of the banking industry in May as planned, then the economy will be in the tank in a worse way. If this doesn't materialize the greatest threat out there is energy costs. If somebody doesn't get a handle on the price of fuel we're in for a very rough Summer.

I don't know about sanity Mud. But the Nov election sent a message to OL'BO. It was loud and clear.

He knows that if the economy and the job situation don't keep improving he will have a tough fight to get re-elected. I don't think he will be doing anything to rock that fragile boat.

We have three wars going and fuel and food prices are going up. People are going to be looking at their pocketbooks.

What was that saying, "Its the economy stupid."

IMO Thats what its going to be all about in 2012.

What "new taxes and regulations" has Obama imposed on you?

The administration having to do some fancy footwork on the Health Care bill in order to show the Courts that it's not Unconstitutional has declared that it's a tax.....and OMG it's a huge tax.

:eusa_shhh:

Let's see... if I remember correctly it was initially sold as a penalty for those few that refused to comply. Now it is a tax because the penalty would be unconstitutional?

How can we the people ever win?

Immie

Your right Immie. I remember Obama on National television telling America that it wasn't a tax.

It wasn't a tax until they realized without it being a tax it was totally unconstitutional and there was no way the SCOTUS would allow it.

Now its a tax.

The games people play at our expense. Jeeze.

It usually takes 8 months for presidential policy to have effect. You must think that Obama miracled the change in trajectory.

BTW, the unemployment rate in 08 was 5.8%

So, the job losses weren't a result of changes that were anticipated from the new administration then?

Thanks

You implied that he reversed the trend with his policies. I said it was impossible.

Well, either you believe his policies had a negative impact one year before he was elected or you don't. You stated you believed that - because that's when the downturn started in full.

His policies would have no effect on the economy till the end of the year at the earliest.

That's simply not true. The tax cuts were almost immediate. 300B+/- of stimulus and tax cuts happened during his first year.

However the anticipation of a socialist/Marxist in the Oval Office was enough to scare just about any business owner. Fear of the unknown can exert downward pressure on the markets and on businesses. Fact is job losses only eased slightly after he became president. Not enough to crow about. It peaked at around 700,000 and went down to half million. Boy, I remember when they were high-fiving when it dropped below 500,000 lost jobs.

The trend turned around from losing 700K to a trajectory reaching today- where we're creating 220+thousand private sector jobs each month.

You're joking, right? The economy had been growing for 15 months before Republicans took over. During that period, 1.3 million jobs have been added.

Cut out government jobs and the figure shrinks to about 5. I mean 5 jobs.

You are frankly too stupid and partisan to argue with . So you go on iggy with your smelly friends.

Most people try a bit harder to hide their hypocrisy and doubletalk.

Lemme see: You're saying that hiring by the government was actually negative, as in for every worker hired in a government job unemployment would have increased.

Do you make this stuff up when you've been smoking dope?

The facts are simple: Obama took a severe recession and made it worse with enormous deficit spending and plans for government involvement in almost every facet of life. As a result this recovery is the weakest on record, with record high unemployment, which even White House economists say will persist. By every measure Obama's economic policies have been failures.
So what record is he going to run on? He can't blame Bush for all this, not after 4 years. No one is buying that. Just like they didnt buy the "Republicans drove us into this ditch" in 2010.
I would mention his numerous and growing failures in foreign policy but frankly unless Americans are dying in huge numbers the electorate doesn't care about foreign policy.
His poll numbers suck. And if you strip out the 90+% approval from the black community they will suck even more.
He begins this campaign early and with a huge war chest. This is at least something he is good at. But I don't think people are buying his bullshit this time around.

It appears contradictory to you because if you recognized the actual facts your little pointy head would explode.
The fact is that by inauguration the worst was over. Obama's policies, rammed through by fear tactics, made things worse and prolonged the recession.

It appears contradictory because it IS contradictory. Perhaps English is not your first language.

The fact is that by inauguration the worst was over.

No, that's simply untrue. The economy shed far more jobs in the period between inauguration and election than it did in the quarter prior. The economy also contracted more during that period. The bottom of the curve for GDP and jobs occurred during the transition and the first month of the Obama administration. There was no recovery during the campaign.

Your attempt at doublespeak can't change that.

What? When did I deny that the economy was getting worse in 2008? I said the failing economy in 2008 had nothing to do with Obama - like you claimed. Is that hard for you to understand?.....Never mind. I'm talking to the same dumb ass who just said that Obama inherited a recovery. Yes, please put me on ignore. I guess that's the only way you "win" an argument - by ignoring the other side, or common sense, or the truth. Moron.

I honestly don't expect him to have that difficult of a time being re-elected.

The Republicans have absolutely no one in the wings that offer any hope of anything beyond the status quo. No one at all. Sarah Palin is history. She will never be elected to anything except maybe The Chair of the RNC if they are that stupid.

On the brighter side of things, I suspect that the Senate will go Republican and that will provide checks and balances so that we don't have another Health Care Reform end around as we did last year.

Instead of defending the indefensible why not just tell us poor conservative what good things he has done. I know we are simple minded people but I just can't thing of any thing. I am retirement age, social security is in jeopardy, he has already wreck my health car, I can't afford to drive my car, foreign policy is a joke

That's the media version. There were several contributors.

All economies are local. What happened in one city was not exactly the same as another. There were several reasons, but the possibility of an anti-business Socialist/Marxist at the helm did not inspire confidence in anyone.

Every time Obama gave a speech he spooked businesses into not hiring. Perhaps waiting just a few months longer to hire. The fact that banks weren't lending lent to this situation as well. Then when consumers got the idea that they needed to cut back they stopped consuming at normal rates and it caused a chain-reaction. Soon banks and businesses were closing their doors. The result is layoffs.

Mud

It's not the media's version. There was no media. It is what the companies were saying - the CEOs, the CFOs, the COOs - on their quarterly conference calls.

Quarterly conference calls. lol

I suppose every business in America is tied into the same network.

No, I think you're over-simplifying the total job market.

I and many small business owners couldn't afford to pay our help so we had to lay them off. Many had to change from employers to simply being self-employed. It all depended on our local economies.

Banks going under made it next to impossible to borrow and expand so jobs were lost. Fear of higher taxes and more government regulations cost even more job losses. Talk in the media and from Democrats like Obama of this being the Worst Economy Since The Great Depression curbed consumption thus cut into profits....more jobs were lost.

Most of the jobs that Obama claimed he created or saved were public-sector union jobs. The private sector took the biggest hit

.

The recession happened because banks made idiotic loans to fuel one of the biggest asset bubbles of all time, which was followed by a massive deflationary implosion of trillions of dollars of private credit, following the script of a balance sheet recession and massive asset bubble collapse that has occurred over and over and over again throughout history. It wasn't because the Democrats "talked bad about the economy."
