Obama has abandoned his Wind Energy bullshit plan, why?

True, and it will probably be grateful to us go

You can allways do the right thing and ex yourself out of the computation now can't you? Funnily enough, you guys all think you're special and it's the "other guys" who need to die.

Where else have we heard that philosophy from:eusa_think:

I didnt say that i was special or that anybody needs to die. All i was saying was that when human beings are no longer on this planet the Earth will no longer have our pollution and destruction to worry about. I didn't literally mean everybody should die right now.

You do realize (I hope) that whenever there is a large volcanic eruption it tosses more crap into the atmosphere than all of mans pollution for all of mans history. You do realise that don't you? Also, whenever a big eruption occurs there is an almost immediate and measurable drop in temperature.

Why is it that after 300 years of mans pollution there is no measurable impact on the temps?

The earth doesn't worry. It's a rock. Do you actually believe a rock capable of worrying about anything? Do you believe there is some "avatar" type consciousness underlying everything? Do you believe in fantasy over reality?

Did you notice two posts in a row....one from bipat and one from alex suggesting that the earth is somehow concious? Bipat gave the earth the capacity to have an opinion and alex gave it the ability to worry? Is it any wonder that the observational reality of the failure of the manmade climate change hypothesis has failed to penetrate such thinking? Do they actually believe a rock to be anthrophomorphic?

I'll tell you why.

Because IN AMERICA, you have guys that own bad ass muscle cars and trucks and they like to drive em and show em off.. So if you're thinking for a second you're gonna sway them off the fumes of gasoline, you got life fucked up Obama.

See, these are the types of things Barry doesn't consider when he's having Pep Rally's to kill the Oil game for America.

It's also proof that he's not a born and raised American, because if he was, He'd know this about the culture in America.

Oil - 1
Wind - zero

I wasn't aware that wind had been abandoned. Oil corporations are still king though - that's clear.

The rush to capitalize on subsidies and Govt largess for wind is an endangered species. Wind does not belong on a list of "alternatives"... It is a SUPPLEMENT, not a primary source of power. Do ya know what a "global index fund" is?

It doesn't belong on the grid.. You can't contract for power because it's not reliable. You cannot build a society on iffy sketchy power sources. Unless of course -- like AlexWA -- you have a different vision of society that doesn't require energy..

People like "AlexWA" have no idea what a power on demand grid is. They confuse it with a "money on demand" socialist system. And that`s all these wind & solar farms are good for.

As U.S. hesitates, California pours billions into green energy

California voters last week directed some $2.5 billion to energy conservation programs with the approval of Proposition 39, ....

In addition, the state this week will begin selling "carbon allowances" as it implements a cap-and-trade program to reduce greenhouse gasses. Revenues from those sales, which could reach $11 billion a year by 2020,

'MURKY' LAW ON HOW TO SPEND FUNDS
Prop 39 backers spent more than $31 million to promote the initiative, $29.6 million of which came from its sponsor, billionaire hedge fund manager Tom Steyer.
Although existing law requires that a portion of the funds from Prop 39 go toward schools, the rest of the money is "up for grabs," said Anne Smart, director of energy for the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, which worked to pass the initiative.
"(The proposition) really doesn't give any guidelines to how the money should be spent, or should there be X percent to energy generation versus X percent to energy efficiency," said Bryan Ashley, chief marketing officer of solar-manufacturer Suniva. "The language is rather murky."
Bankrupt states (like California) and (left wing) Provinces, that ran up out of control debts.. (in Canada it`s Ontario ) use "green energy" and "Carbon allowances" to print their own currency and raid Your wallet.

Does the Earth have the ability to worry, no probably not, but do I believe that the Earth is just a rock? Not at all.

I believe that the Earth is a part of all of us, from the largest organism to the smallest. I believe that no one species or organism has dominion over the Earth or each other. I believe that the Earth is one massive living organism that is very giving but also very dependent on the life that lives on it and in it. It gives us (all life) resources to live on and with, but it depends on us in order for those resources to be protected, nourished, utilized correctly, and sustained for future life.

With that being said it is undeniable to me that the human species is the most destructive species of life on Earth and that we knowingly and selfishly contribute to the destruction of life and the Earth in so many ways. The Earth itself is not selfish. It will give us resources for as long as the resources exists. However, because of that selflessness of the Earth people will quickly and ruthlessly take and take from the Earth without ever giving back, believing that they have dominion without consequence.

Justifying pollution, destruction, abuse, greed, consumption, and other negative human actions that contribute to damaging the Earth and the life that lives on it and in it because of the irresponsible belief that we are too small to impact it or that we "own" it will ultimately lead to an irreversable moment in time when it will be too late to fix the damage we as a species have all inflicted.

People need to understand their impact and how it is not just a small annoyance to this planet. Our actions affect everything from the air we breathe to the water we drink, from the otter swimming right now in Puget Sound to the wild flowers growing around Mt. Rainer. Being so arrogant to pretend that human beings are separate and indepedent from all other life forms on Earth as well as the Earth itself as a living body is not only dangerous and irresponsible it will be deadly for many things on this planet if that line of thought continues in my opinion.

There are many good people that want to see this planet protected and healthy, but unfortuntely years and years of want and destruction from other people has bred generations of apathetic individuals that would rather ignore their impact than to live a little more simply.

And I am sorry if this is coming across as angry I am not intending it to be like that I am just frustrated because I see the apathy every day.

Selfish want keeps the fumes of gasoline flowing

Where are "gasoline fumes flowing"...???...where exactly are they flowing from and where are they flowing to ?
Name one vehicle that has been produced since 1970 that does not have a fuel tank vent with an activated Carbon filter.
If all these "selfish people" would quit right now using the heavily taxed gasoline or diesel you would not have to wait and see if the "Financial Cliff" will materialize.

You have a GENERAL outlook on this problem that's UNASSAILABLE.. Congrats. Unfortunately, when it comes down to specifics, science and risks -- you've got close to nothing. Confusing man-made global warming with pollution doesn't help your cause. Suggesting that there are NEW energy technologies to replace the old -- doesn't validate your "feelings". Blaming this all on EVERYBODY -- especially your fellow citizens in one of the CLEANEST places on earth -- doesn't win converts to your cause.

Stay with us -- discuss the specifics -- and you'll find that I am NOT apathetic at all. And what I really want to do is to ditch the "pagan worship" and concentrate on solutions..

Here's an example of analyzing specific risks and facts and science. Are you aware that in terms of CO2, Methane, and GreenHouse gases -- that ONE SPECIE (termites) plays a significant role. Termites ALONE emit close to a 1/10 of what we do.. 20MegTons per year

Not to mention that MAN gets charged for all domestic animal emissions. In fact LIVESTOCK accounts for almost 1/2 of man's emissions of methane. Which really isn't fair when you consider the plains thick with buffalo and other bovines before we arrived...

No pollution without man? So no natural forest fires? No leaks of toxic materials from sea beds? No "circle of death" around geothermal vents in Yosemite? No arsenic, no uranium? No red tides? No droughts? No destructive storms? No mass extinctions??

All this stuff man uses is pretty damn "natural".

Where, oh where do you see anyone justifying pollution? No one here is trying to do that.

However, most of the sceptics here have a very good foundation in science (far better than the AGW revisionists) and we can see for ourselves the corruption in the AGW movement. What we demand is a return to the fundamentals of science and the scientific method.

The AGW movement has prostituted itself for politics. That is a crime against every good scientist who has ever lived.

Apparently AlexWA thinks it does have an opinion. That is what his post was about.

Don't worry, Chicken Little, the earth will still be here after we're all dead and gone.

Yep, no doubt. It's the HOW we'll be dead and gone that worries me a little. Will we be dead and gone because of another ice age? Or, will we be dead and gone because we fouled our own air supply? Maybe it will be because we have made water undrinkable... the possibilities to that question are amazing. We'll keep burning oil and coal, making our laws to not consider global warming in zoning decisions, and wait to react when the question finally gets answered. That's not being chicken, that's being an ostrich.

a. In academia, truth has fallen in priority to ideology, also known as the ‘greater truth’ of pre-formed conclusions. A case in point is climate change. Normal science discovers facts, and then constructs a theory from those facts. ‘Post-modern science’ starts with a theory that is politically sensitive, and then makes up facts to influence opinion in its favor.

b. Mike Hulme is Professor of Climate Change in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia (UEA), []Mike Hulme and was good enough to reveal the truth in the Guardian, 2007: “…this particular mode of scientific activity… has been labeled "post-normal" science. Climate change seems to fall in this category. Disputes in post-normal science focus as often on the process of science - who gets funded, who evaluates quality, who has the ear of policy - as on the facts of science…. Self-evidently dangerous climate change will not emerge from a normal scientific process of truth seeking,… scientists - and politicians - must trade (normal) truth for influence. If scientists want to remain listened to, to bear influence on policy, they must recognise the social limits of their truth seeking and reveal fully the values and beliefs they bring to their scientific activity…. Climate change is too important to be left to scientists - least of all the normal ones.” The appliance of science | Society | The Guardian

Again?

"...climate change will not emerge from a normal scientific process of truth seeking,… scientists - and politicians - must trade (normal) truth for influence....social limits of their truth...'

Wise up.

Wise up yourself, you psuedo-sophisticate. Climate and the warming or cooling of the atmosphere of the earth is a matter of physics, not political sophistry.

You can find the truth in the articles written by scientists.

The Carbon Dioxide Greenhouse Effect

And in the articles in peer reviewed journals

AGW Observer

And in the words of the people that know the costs of the ongoing consequences of climate change.

Managing climate and natural disaster risk | Swiss Re - Leading Global Reinsurer

As well as holding a key role in the opening ceremony , Swiss Re was heavily involved in two closed door sessions at the Morgan Library in New York City which brought decision makers and influencers from a cross section of society together to discuss how to tackle climate change and the devastation it brings.

Swiss Re hosted a workshop style brainstorming session with 30 senior representatives from governments, multilaterals, NGOs and the private sector for an event which focused on how risk transfer can help society better cope with weather related events.

Aimed at developing risk transfer solutions, rather than simply identifying problems, the two-hour session demonstrated the important role insurance can play in helping to build resiliency among populations most at risk from climate change.

People justify pollution by ignoring it. There are people on here, in the Seattle area, in the US, and all over the world that ignore pollution and how we contribute to it. Not everybody obviously but a whole lot of people justify what is going on by simply ignoring it or trying to lesson the impact. I am not just talking about global warming. I am talking about trash all over the place, plastic, sewage and other harmful items littering the oceans and rivers, smoke stacks everywhere, chemicals and waste going into the soil, etc etc.

There's not a gotdamn thing mankind can do to help the earth. the earth helps itself.

Stop being a moron. Wind Energy is bullshit propaganda to slow the movement of mankind.

and let me guess, YOU own car right now? maybe 2?

Except that energy from wind is sporadic and unpredictable. Not the stuff that would be an alternative to a 24/7 Nat Gas plant or coal plant. You cannot have a society like ours when the wind doesn't blow on Thursday and you've mandated all the fossil fuels to be evil.. And you don't think that Big Wind has lobbyists? That the $Bills that GE and Siemens and the other giants have gotten to be major players in wind is somehow cuter and cuddlier?

The amount of waste from a nuclear plant is 0.7 ounces/per household/ per year. Can you do better than that? No CO2 emissions, no acid rain.

Wind is not gonna be a major factor in actually continuing our standard of living in a post -fossil-fuel world.
