Obama guarantees dependence on foreign oil by banning more US drilling today

:cuckoo:
Why do you care? Right wingers aren't going to build nuclear power plants. That takes scientists and engineers. Right winger's believe people were magically shimmered into being. Science and the right wing doesn't work well together. Better they spend their time with "Bible Study" and stay away from things that make you glow.

:eusa_eh:That it? thats all you got in response? the lib version of science is study of global warming and NASA outreach to the muslims respond to the points or shut the hell up idiot:cuckoo:

What does the right wing care about "global warming"? Or science based "green energy". Come on, seriously, the right doesn't believe in science. They don't push their children into scientific fields. They get their degrees in "Bible Study".

Right wingers are no longer being allowed to spout anti science crap and then insist that the majority of scientists are right wingers. I think it's a "new" regulation.

6% of scientists are Republicans. 97% of scientists believe in evolution. Funny how both are at opposite ends of the spectrum.

Belief is enough for religion, NOT enough for science. To say science is wrong, you need facts and data. Not some news story that it snowed once somewhere in October.

:cuckoo: Still no response to the points only more irrelevant stupidity

Does anyone think we'll ever get all the oil we consume from within the US?

It's possible, but not probable. It wouldn't necessarily make good business/logistical sense anyway.

I like to ask folks to imagine waving a magic wand and reducing our oil consumption by 9 million barrels per day. *poof*

Great news but where would that leave us? Totally dependent on domestic production.
Under this scenario, how would we treat the U.S. oil industry? Like we do today- which doesn't exactly encourage exploration and production now does it?

Of course we can't make our imports disappear overnight, but Obama sure isn't helping the picture by locking up reserves and proposing tens of billions of dollars in penalties on the industry.

Green is Red.

The Chinese are locking down oil leases all over the world as fast as they can.

Get used to being poor for two more years.

Obama bans offshore oil drilling in Atlantic waters - USATODAY.com

In a policy reversal, President Obama's administration announced Wednesday that it will not allow offshore oil drilling in the eastern Gulf of Mexico or off the Atlantic coast for at least seven more years.

Do you think that the private American owned oil companies are not locking down oil contracts for drilling all over the world as well???? silly, silly, silly boy?

Do YOU want the US government to make oil a national commodity and have our government take over the private sector Oil Industry as China....?

btw, we can never be self sufficient in oil, we will ALWAYS be dependent on foreign oil, BECAUSE we use so MUCH of it......tooo too much to ever be self dependent, without foreign oil.

Not to worry!!!

China will be able to crank-out all the alternative-energy platforms we can CONSUME!!!

"China is doing moon shots. Yes, that’s plural. When I say “moon shots” I mean big, multibillion-dollar, 25-year-horizon, game-changing inve$tment$. China has at least four going now: one is building a network of ultramodern airports; another is building a web of high-speed trains connecting major cities; a third is in bioscience, where the Beijing Genomics Institute this year ordered 128 DNA sequencers — from America — giving China the largest number in the world in one institute to launch its own stem cell/genetic engineering industry; and, finally, Beijing just announced that it was providing $15 billion in seed money for the country’s leading auto and battery companies to create an electric car industryhttp://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/26/opinion/26friedman.html, starting in 20 pilot cities. In essence, China Inc. just named its dream team of 16-state-owned enterprises to move China off oil and into the next industrial growth engine: electric cars."
