After 2010's Tea Party nonsense, we got a lot of rage and anger towards governments, at all levels. We heard the common complaint that "Govt should be run like a business". Well...what does a business do?

- Tries to get customers hooked on their product.
- Tries to maximize profit margin by spending less than they bring in

Well, is Obama not doing EXACTLY that? He and other government employees are doing EXACTLY what a "business" would do: Get their customers hooked on their product. They are getting consumers of govt service hooked on it, and making the people want more and more of it. No different than McDonalds trying to get customers hooked on it's latest fat-bomb burger, or WalMart getting customers so addicted to their low prices that they just cant force themselves to shop elsewhere.

And..Obama and all governments are doing exactly what a business would do: Take in as much revenue as possible, while expending as little as possible to keep the customers coming back.

And considering 50% of all small businesses go belly up within the first year, then "running it like a business" would include taking the risk of debt and deficit spending.

You right wingers should applaud Obama. He and the govts of this nation are doing EXACTLY what you idiots demanded they do in 2010.

Like any good businessman, they are simply ensuring their own job security by getting the consumers of their service hooked on that service, then trying to maximize profit margin. Hooray for the business minded people in government!!!

Um...you were a bit light on the details of the government's success at maximizing their profit margin. How's that working out for our benevolent government? Making a lot of money are they, or going deeper and deeper and deeper in debt? I think you're...excuse me, your suffering from the same disease as Truthmatters.

But they are attracting, and retaining, customers. Now...they want to increase their revenue and start cutting expenditures.

They are making the moves in the right direction, no?

You might have a point except for the "expending as little as possible" part.

Government doesn't just spend as much as it takes in it borrows another 40% and spends that too.

No, they aren't. They're completely inept, incompetent, irresponsible and unaccountable. Can you name one reason why I should become so enthralled and excited about giving up more in taxes to a govt that has an insatiable appetite for endless wars, never ending entitlements, budget deficits, outrageous debt, and does not one damn thing to end the absurdity.

I've built up two companies and sold them on the simple philosophy of spending less than you have coming in or revenues>expenditures. So now I'm supposed to jump with glee when the feds come begging and whining for more money for their gross negligence...all the while, demonizing and screaming class warfare at the top of their lungs, even though I match my employees 401k, provide a salary above industry standards, and provide healthcare. Sorry, but I want no part of the govt sordid twisted affairs.

Wrong, except for companies that provide clinically proven drugs that cause dependency (like nicotine). All other companies attempt to provide a desired product that their customer base wants and thus is willing to pay for.

True. Our government resembles this, how?

No different than McDonalds trying to get customers hooked on it's latest fat-bomb burger

Does McDonald's put anything in their food that causes physical dependency on it? Nope, they just make burgers quickly and apparently that's what's important to a lot of people. Can't blame them for servicing their customers.

WalMart getting customers so addicted to their low prices that they just cant force themselves to shop elsewhere.

Is it possible to be "addicted" to low prices? Maybe it is. It's such a horrible thing when a place sells crappy stuff for a low price and people want it enough to pay money for it.

A little nuance here: Obama and the government is taking revenue from everyone regardless of how much they consume and providing it to everyone regardless of how much they did or didn't pay for it... and doing it all at a major loss. Worst yet, they're not adding any value to it. Taking money from one person and routing it into a fund where someone else can access it in order to buy some porn, however noble the intentions, costs money to do (called "administrative costs" or "overhead.")

Businesses, on the other hand, attempt to provide a good or service to a consumer who pays a business directly for the good or service and thus directly receives said good or service.
