Obama gets taxpayers to fund campaign drive

HHS has just signed a 20 million $ PR Contract to promote Obamacare. Great timing, in the middle of his re-election campaign. That's 20 million of his campaign war chest he won't have to spend.

Can you explain in detail how this is money Obama would have otherwise spent out of his campaigning funds? I am not seeing the connection.

He can't campaign on ObamaCare, it isn't looking so good for him. So he's using taxpayer money to see what parts of it folks might take a liking to. He's got the feelers out there at our expense.

Oh and he already knows which portions are liked by the people.....All of it. Outside of the mandate which is just fake outrage anyway, each of the various components of the ACA scores very well when polled independently.

We'll chalk up this thread to another fake outrage thread from someone who is looking for things to complain about.

But your own link says "The campaign was mandated by the Affordable Care Act" which means this was a part of the bill already and was planned from the beginning. You're acting as if this is something Obama just decided to do now to save himself some money. When in reality, it's nothing like that at all.

I truly think you are that naive, I think it's rather coincidental they have decided to run this PR campaign right now. After all it's been on the books for a couple of years .

I also appreciate the responses without the traditional name calling and insults. Thank you for that.

And I truly think you're extremely paranoid. I'm fairly certain no matter when this was done, whether it is now, 6 months ago or 6 months from now you would have found some way to make a conspiracy out of it.

Yea OK, you win, I'm paranoid. It's all in my head. I was once naive, too. Unfortunately I learned the hard way, especially growing up in Chicago. It's all a conspiracy.

20 million is a drop in the hat. And all the people just love that program!!

There ya go. Acceptance is the first step to recovery.

Obamacare is for the best.

It is for the best that we have an overbloated program that has contributors not only forced to purchase a service but also pay for the subsidizing or the down-right purchase of the same product for others in a free society??

Hardly

Yup it's called personal responsibility....something you cons pretend to stand for.

Gotta agree with RDD here, I'm sure Obama and his bureacrats knew all along there'd have to be a lot of propaganda done for any chance to get this through.

What's personally irresponsible about someone not paying for monthly insurance costs and paying out of pocket for their medical expenses when they come about?

It's called pro-choice, something you dems pretend to stand for.

The Health and Human Services Department has signed a $20 million contract with a public-relations firm to highlight part of the Affordable Care Act.

The new, multimedia ad campaign is designed to educate the public about how to stay healthy and prevent illnesses, an HHS official said.

The campaign was mandated by the Affordable Care Act and must describe the importance of prevention while also explaining preventive benefits provided by the healthcare law. The law makes many preventive services available without a co-pay or deductible, and provides new preventive benefits to Medicare patients.

It shows the desperation in the Obama Camp.
Their internal polling may show that Obama's re-election is doing worse than the Public polls are showing.

Because in the real world medical expenses are not affordable for the average person to pay out of pocket. Especially if major illness or injury occurs.

When your choices affect how much I pay for my medical coverage, you don't get to have any choice you want. Sorry.

I'm an average person, it's much easier for me to afford not having insurance and pay medical bills out of pocket. I'm a perfectly healthy 27 year who takes eating good and working out very seriously, but yet you want me to be forced to pay for something I don't need and pay for other people's insurance. Instead you'd rather make a grey situation black and white and force everyone under the same umbrella with fear of gov't penalty. And why should rich people be forced to have insurance if they don't want it?

No, it really isn't "coincidental" at all.

Large parts of the Health Care bill had delayed starts to allow employers to make adjustments, etc.

Thus, public education on how the new law works was scheduled to start now.

It's pretty simple, really.

I certainly "heart" our Federally and locally funded Interstate Highway System brought to us by the REAL GOP. You fake fuckers couldn't organise the paving of my driveway.
