Obama gets Jesus name removed.

Doesn't matter if he is or isn't, now does it? We enjoy the freedom of religion in the US and it is one of the major founding tenets of the philosphy for this country.

Separation of Church and State. Google it.

Smartt: However, there is no way you are covered by freedom "from" religion. Obama is an "obamination" to God. He has proven he is ashamed of God and God will not bless him as he leads this nation. Ie is really in some danger at this point. Our president is a jerk and a liar. He is deceotive as is Satan. I have no respect for him, though at this point I still have respect for the position of President. He doesn't belong there. I don't even believe he is an American.

Georgetown University Hid Religious Symbols at White House Request - First 100 Days of Presidency - Politics FOXNews.com

Georgetown University hid a religious inscription representing the name of Jesus during President Obama's address there Tuesday, FOXNews.com has learned, because White House staff asked the school to cover up all religious symbols and signs while the president was on stage.

Georgetown is a private Catholic institution founded by Jesuits in 1789. The auditorium where the president spoke Tuesday is adorned with religious imagery, but only the symbols directly on the stage -- those likely to be picked up by a television camera -- were obscured.

Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League, accused the university of "cowardice" for acceding to the White House, and criticized Obama's team for asking a religious school to "neuter itself" before the president made his address.

What's a matter Obama, afraid people might think you're a Christian??

Donohue is spot on; the university did act cowardly in complying with this asinine request. If Obama has a problem with any religious symbols at any religious college he should just stay the fuck out of them instead of requesting they they alter what they stand for and believe in.
I would say that if they truly stood for Jesus they would not had covered it up in any manner regardless of who was coming to visit.

Smartt: you might be right. Thw whole thing was something that God will never honor. The school and Obama are both losers in this deal.

We have absolutely no proof that the President even knew about this request in the first place. It could very well have been made by a staff person who didn't even think about it being a religious symbol, but wanted a dark backdrop for lighting purposes.

Then again, maybe it did come directly from the mouth of the President.

It is, however, a shame that politicians have to go to such extremes to avoid controversy and by doing so they do nothing but stir up controversy. Then again, if "IHS" had been left there atheist would have been screaming that he was promoting Christianity. Guess this endeavor was doomed from the start. /shrug

The best bet would have been to have chosen a different venue in the first place which would have quelled all controversy.

Pretty clear to me that Obama requested this.

So he did this to appease atheists - - - and to hell with the Catholics?

Aside from Obama's insulting request . . . the fact that Georgetown accommodated him is beyond me. They ought to be ashamed. Cowards.

I'm sorry, but I don't see anything in your emphasized posts that state that President Obama had anything to do personally with the request.

So he did this to appease atheists - - - and to hell with the Catholics?

I don't know why he did it or even IF he did it. Someone on staff could have made the request without discussing it with the President and possibly without even intending to make a religious statement out of it.

Aside from Obama's insulting request . . . the fact that Georgetown accommodated him is beyond me. They ought to be ashamed. Cowards.

Again, we don't know that he made the request. However, I do agree that GU should have said, "thanks, but no thanks, we don't need your 2 hours of preaching change when there is no change. Maybe you should try the local YMCA or Elks Club?"

"Obama's team" means Obama. I'm hard pressed to think he knew nothing about it or didn't request it himself. Still don't know why though.

Completely agree about G.U. I'm clueless as to their reasoning to accommodate Obama on this.

If he didn't know, then he really doesn't have a clue. The POTUS doesn't know what his advance people are doing or asking?

Which makes me wonder, why in the hell is anybody scheduling events at institutions like this - ones that will clearly raise controversy. Why would anyone say, "Let's go to _____ and ask them to cover their Christian (or Jewish or whatever) signs. We know there will be controversy, but that is ok. We'll do it anyway."

Please...if you want to keep in religion-neutral, then go somewhere religion-neutral.

Avoid the controversy.

Regardless of how the request was worded, same result.

What was his purpose of this?

Remember what he said? "The United States is not a Christian nation."

How could he say this and then less than two weeks later, have ...OMG...Jesus show up during a speech.

Again, I maintain, avoid the controversy. Hold the speech somewhere religion-neutral.

This guy is not a Christian.

Actually, it does matter, because Obama:

1) Swore an oath on the Christian Bible, to the American People that he was:

2) A Christian, as he said he was all throughout his campaign.

So he swore an oath on the Christian Bible, that he was a Christian (and everything else he said he was in the campaign), but a Christian would never for ANY REASON deny Christ, period. And when you hide Jesus' name, you are denying Christ for some reason or another.

So what it means is Obama's a lying fuck and if we can't trust him when he says what religion he is what else can we trust him on?

No lobbyists in his administration? No.....
Ethical people in his administration...coughtaxdodgerscough
No new taxes? Hmm, already lost that one too. Gas tax hike, cigarette tax hike, and tried to move forward Cap and Trade.

The guy is a lying douche bag and a socialist, and I don't know what's worse, but I do know one thing.

The American people hate socialism.

The American people despise liars.

Obama is both. Bye bye hope and change.

Completely agree about G.U. I'm clueless as to their reasoning to accommodate Obama on this.

"Obama's team" was a statement made by someone that had nothing to do with the event. Mr. Donahue criticized "the Obama Team", but he has absolutely no idea whose decision this was.

The same goes for "White House Staff" in your post. Fox News used the term "White House Staff" because they did not know who it was that made the request. I highly doubt the President is required to make all kinds of minor decisions about what kind of a backdrop he stands in front of during a speech.

I would even go so far as to wonder if they even asked them to cover the symbol specifically. Or did they simply say that they wanted him set up in this position and they needed a dark colored backdrop behind him. It seems that quite often when someone makes a speech like this they put a dark colored backdrop behind them. Not always, but quite often. Was this simply done for lighting and had nothing at all to do with "Iesus Hominum Salvator" translated Jesus Savior of Man on the wall behind him?

Georgetown, which is run by the Jesuit order, is one of the most prestigious Catholic institutions of higher education in the United States.

Cowards. They should have left IHS as is and if Obama had a problem with it then he could bugger off. WTF, so a Catholic college has to cow-tow to Obama? Please spare me the separation of church and state. It's a Catholic college; Obama should have been covered in a black triangle.

Smartt: you are 100% correct.

Smartt: This is the very thing that will separate the real Christians from those who are deceived in their hearts. (With the exception of a few real Christians who have not grown in their faith yet) True believers will stand in honor of God no matter what. Keep the symbols and it the Prez doesn't want to speak there, tell him to go away.

America isn't a Christian nation. It is a nation of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, Taoists, Shintoists, Wiccans, atheists, agnostics and followers of any other "ism" you care to mention. The fact that the right wing seized on this non-issue is that they have nothing else. They are as intellectually bankrupt as they have ever been and their ideology was rejected at the polls in November. And current polling data suggests that this sentiment continues.
