Obama frustrated with lack of job growth

1/3 of all jobs right now are "government" jobs. Either directly or indirectly paid for with tax dollars/debt.
Most of the job increases during the bush administration were govt jobs.

We have been trying to pay our way on the credit card for around 30 years.

I need to see a link to this one, because I just don't believe what you stated.
I'd like to see that, too.

UScitizen could produce whatever "proof."

Frankly, I would find it difficult to believe there's been any industrial or "service sector" growth in the USA that has exceeded the growth of the US Government since 1935.

Unless.......there's been an Oil Refinery built since then?.....no......chemical plants since 1967?......no......textile industry since 1970?.....no.....automotive industry.....can anyone say "rust belt?"

If there's been some industry that's grown more than the US Gov't, its sure keeping damn well hidden!:dig:

WHERE IS IT??

You bring up a good point, too much government growth has put a choke hold on the private sector. The one thing that would put thousands back to work in the private sector would be energy, yet the government blocks that at every turn. We can't drill, ANWR a 2million acre permantely frozen tundra has huge resourses of oil, it would require just 2 thousand acres, a pin spot on 2million acres, to drill and drill environmentally safe. Yet, oh no we can't do that. The off shore leases out of California would pay off that state's debt in one swoop of the pen, yet oh no, we can't do that. Those could be done environmentally safe and not even be seen.

I keep hearing how we need to get off foriegn oil, but I see little to no progress when it comes to energy independence and I am for all energy, be it bio-degradable, wind, solar, nuclear everything. Building just one nuclear power plant would create thousands of good long term jobs, yet Obama is against that. France runs on 80% nuclear power, why can't we? Energy is the future, yet our government will not allow us, the private sector, do what needs to be done.

Energy independence would put millions back to work, in fact we would be begging for workers.

Now ask yourself--out of the 787 BILLION dollar stimulus bill--why wasn't there one single penny in there for a nuclear power plant? Only 11 billion in this bill was dedicated to power infracstructure that would accomodate wind generation back to the power plant--when experts stated they need 110 billion to complete. I am talking everything. That means drill baby drill--solar--wind--natural gas--nuclear power--hydro power, etc. etc..

We currently have a natural gas reserve off of the coast of Santa Barbara that would heat our homes for the next 4 years--but hell no--let's buy it from foreigners. Right now the liberal California state legislature is putting a farming community representing thousands--that is generations old out of business to save a minnow fish & have cut off their water supply.

We need to get government the HELL out of the way to get this economy moving.

Clearly.

However, no government, least of all Obama's DNC State, is going to share the limelight for saving an economy as large as the USA's with anything as nasty as Private Capitalism, and DEFINATELY not by encouraging the use of nuclear energy and fossil fuels to Stimulate Capitalism.

You'd be turning back the socialist agenda 100 years.

Mr. president? You KNOW what to do if your frustration is genuine...

Lower taxes, and CEASE trying to take over the private sector and watch it take off...Get off the backs of the PEOPLE whom are the economy numbnuts.

Right on.:clap2::clap2:

it's exactly what he needs to do. he needs to get GOVERNMENT OUT of OUR FACES...IF he wants the economy to take off. Governemnt intrusion is NOT Liberty, but an affront to it, and prosperity which follows Liberty.

Well one thing for sure there is a full blown panic going on right now. The realization that the stimulus money is not working to create jobs is setting in on our politicians. It wasn't that it was not enough it was because it was mis-directed to the wrong people. It has ended up being nothing more than a slush fund for state and local governments to dip into when they run out of money. In the end we will start hearing about a whole lot of officials stuffing their pockets with tax payer dollars and running off with it. It could look alot like the Berny Madeoff scandal only this madeoff will be making off with millions and billions of our tax dollars.

I think they should rescind the remainder of the stimulus money and pay back down the debt, that would help our economy more than anything else right now.

DITTO
The 787 BILLION dollar stimulus bill is nothing more than an UNEMPLOYMENT check that is continually being extended to millions of Americans in this country that have lost their jobs. Of course, Americans on unemployment typically do not pay tax on that check--simply because an unemployment check is dramatically less than what they made when they were actually working & paying taxes.

This administration & congress have made big business & small business in this country the enemy- by their continual threats of higher taxes on the over 250 K crowd which only represents 5% of this entire population. It worked--millions of working Americans bought into the "evil" rich rhetoric in which democrats used corrupt Wall Streeter's as their poster boy. Average Americans forgot about their bosse's who really weren't Wall streeters. They were simply hard working people who took on a lot of risk & opened up their own business & hired employees.

When business is continually threatened in this country with higher taxes-- they will postpone future growth plans, they will not borrow to expand--they simply cut back & hole up until circumstances change.

Meaning a new adminstration & congress.

There ya go!:clap2:

My fear is that, with one really terrible natural disaster, these guys will find justification to stay in office for 8 years, after which there won't be much hope for a recovery that will mean anything to me since they will coincide with years that should be the most productive of my life.

I'm glad I have modest retirement plans......a single wide trailor....a few goats:eusa_drool:

Believe me--I know it's scary. You know in Mexico a few years ago--we had a Presidential candidate Obrigon that operated out of Mexico city--still the largest in the entire world--that promised the masse's everything for free & of course that would be paid for by confiscation of others--mainly foreign investors--who had built these huge vacation resorts through-out Mexico.

Calidron--the current President was of course against it--& believe it or not the Mexicans through-out the rest of the country voted against the Pied Piper Obrigon--because they knew that all these foreign investors gave them real jobs that they could feed their families with. And because of foreign investors, there is today, actually a middle class that exists in Mexico.

I think this country got so caught up with taxing the evil empire--the so-called people that make over 250K per year--that they forgot who they actually work for. Many of the over 250K crowd are simply small business people--but Americans were too stupid & wanted to elect the 1st black man to the Presidency--that they forgot where they came from & exactly who they worked for.

The ONLY thing that is going to put this economy back in working order is to reduce the corporate tax rate, including those millions of small business S corporations to get them off of the couch to move. Right now, being a sub-S corporation myself over the last 30+ years, I have no intention of growing this business with the threat of paying approximately 40% in federal income tax--alone-- if I hit that magic number of 250K.

If you think about that 40% federal income tax bracket-(not including state or local taxes)--why would any small business owner put up with the risk & 24/7 headaches to actually bring home less than some of their employees?

Obama's frustrated? Imagine how all the unemployed feel!

I've been unemployed, so I know how they feel.

They are applying for government jobs, and hoping to god Obama and the DNC will expand their opportunities to become US Postal Employees.

Hey--I see it everyday--& I can't believe it. I live in Colorado & drive down a mountain pass to get to Colorado Springs. The families (with kids) that have pitched tents near a mountain creek are unbelievable. Now these people aren't loosers--they are families that have lost everything. It sickens me. Right now our temperature is 0 degrees & I am wondering where these families are going.

I live in a state that has a relatively low unemployment rate compared to the rest of the nation which we are at 7%--I don't know what the rest of you are seeing.

BUT YOU DON'T FORGET THIS. Our freakin federal government created this economic mess--when they decided to co-sign our names to 50% of the mortgates in this country through Fannie/Freddie while at the same time lowering lending requirements.

That's what BIG government does.

:lol: Maybe we can all deliver mail?--:lol:

Yeah it's bad--it's real bad. This is much worse than the Carter administration.

Good Grief! Camping? NOW???

I live near Boulder. Happily, most of the population is employed by the Government, but I suppose I need to go over to Pearl Street to see if there's more pan-handlers out than usual.

Nonetheless....I think we'd better get used to this....

Just saw John Boehner on television bitching about how "Obama and Pelosi have ran a business or held a job in the private sector", even though Pelosi does run a business (she and her husband own a vineyard) .

How many union workers in that vineyard ? .......... :eusa_whistle:

It's a non-union operation. What's your point? If the workers wanted to unionize, they have the ability to do so. Unlike some of its neighboring states, California isn't a "right to free ride" state.

I noticed Polky BAILED with that bit of INFO...

Actually, went and did some other stuff. Had a cup of tea, listened to some records, made some travel arrangements.

Hey--I know Boulder well--my daughter got her bachelors at CU, & then headed to the Health Sciences center in Denver to get her master's degree.

College town--how are you doing up there with homeless or do you have any?

How about the screaming headline yesterday from the mainstream media, "Request for unemployment assistance dropped this week by...........".

THAT WAS IT!!!!

Ummm..............they failed to mention that the #'s were based upon a three day week as the labor dept was closed on Thursday and Friday!!! Ooooooooooooooooooooooops!!!! Failed to mention that overall, the # of those filing for unemployment is still soaring!!!

As Rush Limbaugh said yesterday, it is a headline designed to dupe the "stupid" in this country!!!!:lol::funnyface::rofl: Indeed.........the Democratic Party exists only due to the high rolls of the stupid of our society........and those who would gladly pay $1,000 for a bag of dog doo if it was packaged just right!!!!!

How many jobs have the republicans created in the last year?

Other than sit around and pout......what have the republicans accomplished this year?

With respect, sir, the Republicans are not in a position to do anything in our government. The Dems CONTROL Congress and the White House. No initiative can reach the floor of either house unless Reid or Pelosi wants it there.

The Dems are dancing in the garden of flowers and peace while we are fighting a war and watching our economy evaporate. It would be funny if we were not the victims of the folly.

The Dems, in their efforts to create jobs, are slowing the economy by sucking money out of it, talking about taxing anything that sets moves or breathes, "dithering" on everything from environmental regulation to warfare planning, changing direction everytime another minority caucus member says they've been offended and literally lying about what they are spending money on.

This create confusion in the minds and the balance sheets of businesses.

Put yourself in the place of a business owner who is about to buy a vehicle. You go to the dealership and the car sales guy says that you may or may not get a rebate, you might get the low, low price advertised or maybe not, you might get a lower price if your surname is different or not, the interest rate is not known at this time, the model of the vehicle you get might be different from the one your are buying and the right to drive it might not be yours to assign.

Are you going to buy today or maybe wait until tomorrow or the next day?

Uncertainty creates hesitation. Look at the Big 0's war planning. Job creation. Iran policy. Gitmo closure. Economic solution(s).

About the only thing he is really good at creating IS confusion. Could that be an industry?
