"To brush aside America's responsibility as a leader and — more profoundly — our responsibilities to our fellow human beings under such circumstances would have been a betrayal of who we are," Obama said. "Some nations may be able to turn a blind eye to atrocities in other countries. The United States of America is different. And as president, I refused to wait for the images of slaughter and mass graves before taking action."

Hello??? Anyone home McFly? If that is why you went with the UN decision...then what is your excuse to ignore Rwanda, Darfur, etc?

He must have started feeling that way right AFTER voting no to ending human slaughter in Iraq in 2003. And right after preaching against the Iraqi liberation over the following 6 years after that.

It's a good thing the MSM supported this guy during the election, because otherwise he would have had zero chance of getting elected.

Well, you know the Obama policy:

No Blood Without Oil.

Seems as if we pick and choose what people should not be slaughtered by their governments, or to what genocides we respond.

I have an idea he did that so he can say he won "his" war. I say this considering he was very "clear" to point out the failure of others.

He is redefining empty suit. It is a worldwide collective snicker every time he opens his mouth.

There is actually a distinct difference between Libya and those places, and it is an all important one. No it is not oil, it is the fact that in Libya unlike Sudan, Darfur, Syria, Yemen, etc the Opposition to the Dictator got strong enough to contest him and take land. Turning protests and uprising into a full fledged Civil war. Giving us someone to support from the air. No such opposition exists in those other places. So a no fly zone would do little more than let our pilots fly around and watch the show.

Were keeping tanks and planes from attacking the Opposition in Libya. Something air power can do, What it can not do is stop police, and troops on the ground from shooting protesters. It also could not effectively stop what is happening in Sudan, as for the most part it is ground Troops in small numbers going into villages and slaughtering people. Not much Air power can do there, with out killing a lot of innocents.

The same excuse every other president has initiated military action in the past 20something years: Oil. Libya has oil. If Libya's rebels are in control of the oil and start selling it, our oil prices go down.

One day we'll be able to harness the energy of a human body and we won't need to go to war over oil.

Darfur/Sudan/Rwanda don't have oil, therefore; we do not go to war against them.

Same excuse as ignoring North Korea sinking our allies ship and shelling their Island. The madman Obama is nothing but a puppet who is controlled by the international banking puppet masters. He voted against The Iraq War, yet he's starting one with Libya. He didn't have a care in the world for the slaughter of Iraqi citizens, yet somehow what's happening in Libya, which is nothing close and mostly bullshit, he does.

Obama is a fraud. All the left-wingers were creaming their pants because their dumb sheople selves thought that they finally elected an anti-war canidate. Nothing could be further from the truth. Their hero is a liar. He's a wolf is sheeps clothing. Just another carpetbagging, double talker in an empty suit who's carrying on with business as usual. Not a word about all the radiation that is hitting Hawaii and The West Coast. He's a flip flopping spin artist. He was hand picked. Wake up. :eusa_shhh: ~BH

Thats a load of croc crap what he vomited out. Is he really that egotistical that nobody sees the hypocrisy in his excuse?

While in part you are right. What I said above is the more important factor here. The simple truth is that in Libya the opposition got big enough, and strong enough to take and hold land. in effect turning Protests into a Civil war. Which gives us someone to support from the air.

In all the other places mentioned in here, or having uprisings around the mid east, No such strong opposition exists for us to support from the air. What you have is protesters being shot by Police and troops in close in Urban areas. Very little we could do in that situation with out putting a whole lot of boots on the ground.

Darfur is the only place where we might be able to do something short of a full invasion and Nation Building, but even there it would require Boots on the ground.

Comrades,

What a speech Papa Obama gave tonight to explain his "North African campaign".

There should be no more questions, otherwise you are a racist...

They see it. They choose to ignore it. Just as they ignored all the other bullshit that came to light BEFORE they voted for him. Yep.

he delivered the speech well, I'll say that, better than the last few.

however, he contradicted himself several times and, well, you had Gates and Hillary contradicting each other yesterday as well, he posited several false dichotomies, never made a case as to:

The foregoing circumstances, the prolonged attacks, and the increased numbers of Libyans seeking refuge in other countries from the attacks, have caused a deterioration in the security of Libya and pose a serious risk to its stability, thereby constituting an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States, and I hereby declare a national emergency to deal with that threat.
