Obama Election, The End of Sovereignty

1. "We DO HAVE a Constitution that they can't toss out..."
I only wish.

If that were the case, how could the chief executive obviate a law passed by Congress...I have in mind the Clinton era welfare act, which required actual work as ascertained by a paycheck....altered by an Obama executive order.

2. "the Debt will become unmanageable, and the US economy will collapse.."
I understand your concerns center on the economy and domestic policy....
...but perhaps I failed to make clear in the OP that the particular issues of this thread deal with our sovereignty.....without which the Constitution becomes even less a factor in America.

a. Loss of sovereignty means the loss of majority rule, limited through the restrictions of the Constitution: separation of powers, federalism, and limited government.

3. The global governance movement claims precedence over a wide area of issues: budget practices, law enforcement, criminal law, criminal law, school curriculum, textbooks, immigration, border enforcement, healthcare, parental care, discipline of children, employment, multilingualism, gender composition of government bodies, among others. UN Human Rights treaties address all of the above.

a. Imagine unelected UN bureaucrats deciding for Americans in all of the areas above.
Obama voters were unconcerned and ignorant of these results.

I'd be happy to give examples of same currently at issue.

Agitated yet?

No, I'm not agitated yet. This thread seems like the photo-negative of the leftist threads whining that Bush would declare Marshal Law and stop future elections.

You seem to forget that the States and States Rights have more contact with us than the Feds. The DC clowns can pass stupid Laws, but who would enforce them? The governments are just about bankrupt, and don't have much actual power. The UN is a joke, and has even less power than the Feds.

Bottom line: US sovereignty is fine now and for the foreseeable future. The Egyptian protests are nothing compared to what would happen here if anyone tries to mess with the US. Its like threatening Bush & Cheney with "war crimes" by the "world court". They have zero power here.

This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the constitution or laws of any state to the contrary notwithstanding.

So, you've failed to notice that that the above is 'More honor'd in the breach than the observance'?

But, then, there are so very many things you've failed to notice.
The passing of this once great nation, for example.

The op is retarded beyond help. This is the dumb ass who says the kkk is a left wing group, that nazis are socialist cause the word is in the name. She is so simplistic in her views it's hard to believe she has made it to adulthood

And, her particular brand of insanity plays right into the whole rw victimhood thing.

I wish they'd quit all the running around, screaming about the sky falling but it would seem they're only gonna get worse.

No facts - just whining lies.

Well, then, ugly.necktie, you should have no difficulty in give a few examples of the ' whining lies,' should you?

Otherwise, you appear pretty much the fool, don't you?

I would like to hear one example of so-called American exceptionalism.

1. "America is the Mass Citizenry Nation! It was designed from the bottom up to give freedom and political participation to all. While this began giving said rights to white males, it was eventually extended to all. This is not to ignore the fact that Britain was the first to outlaw slavery, but had and still has a recognition of class that America doesn’t.

2. Free enterprise system began in America in a way unique when compared to other industrial nations. In most, feudalism and then mercantilism were first steps, and free trade was able to flourish as government regulation and control was pulled back…and not fully so. This less than total free enterprise was an impediment, as compared to the spontaneous movement in the United States, where it began without government design or regulation. It was this freedom of endeavor that shaped modern democracy, and gave the character of America’s desire for liberty.

3. With the possible exception of Argentina, the United States is the only nation entirely composed of immigrants. Who were those folks? They were the brave, the optimistic go-getters who would face hardship and the vagaries of luck to build a new world. Those less inclined to work hard, take a chance and seek their fortune in a new world stayed home!"

Unable to judge the future, these voters, these Brutuses, have left the rest of us in the position of one day saying...

..'Forgive them, they knew not what they did.'

You're probably thinking of Judas, not Brutus.

As for creeping Globalization, that didn't start with Obama and it won't end with him.

Brutus.

Judas is a bit strong for the allusion.

Did you seriously respond to 'exceptionalism' with a Dick Morris reference?

Let me try again:

I would like to hear one example of so-called American exceptionalism.

Let me add, ...concisely, specifically, with a keen focus on 'to the point'.

You folks believe America is "exceptional" because it's got the biggest guns and have all sorts of "exceptions" to international rules, laws and protocols.

I think you have to kind of understand why Brutus did what he did...

Brutus murdered a man who had toppled constitutional government in Rome and created a personal permanent dictatorship. They tried to prevent a system that would inevitably bring Caligula and Nero to power, and that was their intent. One could argue that Brutus was a patriot, but frankly, Roman Republican Government had been on life support for nearly a century at that point.

Now, I'm not comfortable with the notion of GLobalization. Quite the contrary, I think right after the insatiable greed of the wealthy, it is the biggest source of the decline of the American Middle Class.

We simply can never get our workers to knuckled under to the poor wages, unsafe working conditions and lax environmental controls that the third world takes for granted.

I work for a large multi-national corporation (not based in the US) that has moved most of it's manufacturing to Asia. I recently had to drive around a lady from one of our Chinese offices to visit vendors and review processes.

During our trip, driving through Chicago, she remarked she was amazed Chicago was as large as it was, and the skies were clear and there wasn't massive smoke around the city.

Frankly, I'm kind of glad about that. Some people on the right think our biggest problem is that we hve too strict of environmental laws....

Relax Chic,
The only way the US political system becomes socialist is if we allow 30,000,000 illegals the right to vote. Then the capitalists bail, and the system economic collapses. As long as the GOP controls the House, the dollar should be sound, the US should fix the economy, and the $16-$20T Debt should get more manageable.
IMHO this next "big deal" should be like the 1993 deal whereby the rich pay a little more, defense gets cut, and the entitlements get scaled back to reality.

There is no benefit to anyone to see the US economy become like Greece. Either we go over the cliff to fix the spending, or we get a Simpson-Bowles type deal...

You're talking about the same house that helped to extend the patriot act and voted for the NDAA 2012? THEY ARE JUST AS BAD AS THE DEMOCRATS.

I never lie.

Education to follow:

1. "Obama to Clinton welfare reform: Drop dead
By Jennifer Rubin
President Obama is the chief executive, obligated by the Constitution to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.” Obama, however, seems to have — by executive order — altered that to read “take Care that the Laws [which he likes or wished Congress had passed] be faithfully executed. The list of laws he won’t enforce or is unilaterally amending is getting long: Defense of Marriage Act, immigration laws, voting laws, and anti-terror laws. He won’t even enforce all the provisions of his signature legislation as we’ve seen in the bushels-full of Obamacare waivers. The latest and most inexplicable gambit is his decision to undo bipartisan welfare reform.

2. “After the Obama administration announced this week that it is opening up waivers to states from the work requirements contained in welfare reform, Republicans began to speak out against the move, complaining it completely undercuts the law. . . . Congressional Republicans decried the move as ‘a blatant violation of the law’ and contend the waivers will actually cause harm to the impoverished Americans because beneficiaries will come to rely on the handout with little motivation to seek employment.”

Should I wait for your apology?

Lies on cue.

What a superb example you are of the efficacy of liberal schooling.

Any documentation that either makes you think, or suggests questioning of your beliefs is responded to as above.

"Let me give you a little tip: if you want liberalism to continue in this country, you have to realize that liberal students are being let down by their professors! They have liberal school teachers, and read the liberal press! Because of this weak preparation, they are unable to argue, to think beyond the first knee-jerk impulse. They can’t put together a logical thought. Now, compare that to a college Republican…"
Coulter

What you claim has been proven to be a lie.

You are an arrogant liar.....but a liar nonetheless.

Your statement has the character of a boomerang, as the documentation that I provided was printed in the Washington Post.

You have proven to be both dishonorable and galactically stupid.

Truly both representative of, and an embarrassment to, liberals.

.

When crazy isn't working for you, double down.

.

I've noticed that all the Left is capable of is bloviation....case in point above.

Seems the facts aren't on your side, or you'd engage in debate, wouldn't you.

More proof of the statement that, for the Left, feeling passes for knowing.

I wouldn't be surprised if Barry the great tries to repeal the 22nd and go for three/four terms like FDR. Maybe even try to establish a complete, totalitarian dictatorship like Robert Mugabe. We all know Obama is Communist filth spawned from Frank Marshall Davis, Alinsky, Ayers, Wright etc.

I'm just wondering where you think our Capitalists will bail to?

Like anyone in the world would actually want them.

Most of the rest of the world, if you are a CEO, you don't get to keep your seven or eight figure salary after your company declares bankruptcy, like happened with GM or Hostess.

Now to this bit of mental retardation...

IMHO this next "big deal" should be like the 1993 deal whereby the rich pay a little more, defense gets cut, and the entitlements get scaled back to reality.

Defense was in the process of being cut long before 1993. As for entitlements, they stayed level through the 1990's.

In FY 1993, we paid 330 B in pensions, 230 B in Health Care and 149B in "welfare". We posted a 255 Billion dollar deficit.

In FY 2000, those numbers had jumped to 443B in Pensions, 350 in Health care and 176 in Welfare, although the latter was a lot more because we had nearly full employment and welfare reform. Yet that year, we posted a 236 Billion dollar surplus.

However, Republicans can fuck up a good thing. By the end of George W. Bush's misrule, Pensions shot up to 659B, Medical costs to 671B and Welfare doubled to 322B. And we were posting half a trillion dollar deficits with it ready to explode into even worse when the recession went great guns.

"I'm not comfortable with the notion of GLobalization."

The same.

Brutus murdered a friend....that is the context.
The theme of the OP is that a vote for Obama, among other inequities, gave progressives, as shown in the thread, the ability to superimpose internationalism for our nation's laws. Whatever the reasons, they have murdered the Constitution for UN regulations.

To continue with the Shakespearean motif, " The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers."

What you posted was opinion pieces from a newspaper. The facts are that Obama in no way suspended the work requirement for welfare. Here is some "documentation" for you, dummy.

"Obama kills welfare reform
By Dick Morris - 07/17/12 05:07 PM ET

Determined to destroy Bill Clinton’s signature achievement, President Obama’s administration has opened a loophole in the 1996 welfare reform legislation big enough to make the law ineffective. Its work requirement — the central feature of the legislation — has been diluted beyond recognition by the bureaucrats at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

On Thursday of last week, HHS issued regulations that modified — gutted — the work requirement. Its new regulations allow the states to substitute education programs for work to get welfare benefits. The regs say that “vocational educational training or job search/readiness programs” “count as well” in meeting the basic condition that recipients work in order to receive welfare benefits."
