"U.S. refineries have been sending 15% to 20% of their production overseas for about a year now," said Andrew Lipow, president of consulting firm Lipow Oil Associates in Houston. "Demand for diesel is strong in Central America and South America and Europe and other parts of the world." That's more than double the rate of exports in 2007, he said.

I am not talking about essential government services. And I am not referring to important research assisted by government. No one stated nor implied there should be NO government employment. The thrust of many of these same type threads is to eliminate government waste. That is done by eliminating do nothing non-essential government jobs.
BTW While I support the space program after 2015 there is no more space program. Obama de funded it.
Now...as far as the rest of your rant, there is not one item on there that cannot be done just as well if not better by the private sector.
As matter of fact most of it is right now...The problem is the federal government has their grubby paws in it which makes it so incredibly expensive.
For example....My friend is an electrical contractor. He has a contract to wire for security in a few new buildings at Fort Stewart in Georgia...
To make along story short he said this is final and last job working for the federal government. He can't make a profit with all the nit picky regulations and of course the insistence by the feds that he pay nearly double the market rate for wages. Yes the person running the contract said my friend had to pay his people the US Government scale
of $33 per hour because the government union thugs went ahead and designated all of his men as journeyman electricians. They are not. They are helpers.
You think government is your hero. You sit there and whine about taxes, and government debt while at the same time you want more government in your life. You can't have it both ways.
The bottom line is this. Government needs to get out of the way of the private sector and allow the economy to grow. Government needs to stop hyper spending and get out of the business of trying to save us from ourselves. We don't need or want them . We will take care of ourselves.
