Obama does it again

The jobs market may be showing serious signs of improvement, in new statistics out Thursday morning.

The Department of Labor said that unemployment applications fell last week by 12,000, down to a seasonally adjusted 365,000. According to the Associated Press, a consistent number below 375,000 is seen as the number that suggests hiring is strong enough to lower the unemployment rate.

In addition, the ADP National Employment Report announced that employers added an estimated 201,000 private-sector jobs in August, according to Reuters, far surpassing the original expectation of 140,000.

You were right about one thing, he did it again, 368,000 more people gave up on finding work. At least he is trying, bless his heart.
notice this quote says unemployment applications fell. It does not say employment has risen.
Right, initial applications only tracks people filing for UI benefits.
This means that last week 12,000 more people are now out of benefits and no longer being tracked. It does not mean those people found gainful employment, it means they are droppe from the tracking system.
No, it means that 12,000 fewer people filed for benefits than the week before. Current recepients is a different number, and is a week behind.
Let's look: ETA Press Release: Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report
There were 12,000 fewer claims for the week ending Sep 1st than for the week ending August 25th (subject to revision).
There were 6,000 fewer people continuing to receive (State) benefits for the weeking ending Aug 25th than for the week ending Aug 18th.
There were 63,076 fewer people receiving benefits from Fed or State for the week ending Aug 18th than the week ending Aug 11th.

For continuing benefits, no, we don't know why there were fewer...whether the found jobs or ran out.

I was talking about Unemployment Insurance benefits. Food stamps is a different kind of flying altogether.

The republicans passed numerous jobs bills. They are all stalled in the senate because Harry Reid said so. obama may not know this because he refuses to meet with his own jobs council.

Something got very messed up in what you quoted me saying. You have to make sure to go to bottom of quote or it will intermingle them.

You mean the Republicans passed numerous de-regulation bills which went nowhere because they're a thinly veiled attempt to put more money in rich people's pockets at the expense of the middle class. Go peddle your ignorant crap elsewhere.

Government assistance programs is an good indicator of how the economy is doing.

Agreed, but that's not what I was talking about. I stated that the number of people receiving unemployment benefits has declined. Food stamps is a different matter.
