Dollar is worth more than it was under Bush

What is the next myth you are trying to sell?

Are you sure?

Avg price of gold year 2008: $870
Price of gold Sept. 2009: $1000

Price of gold is dropping as more people sell off and re-enter the Stock Market

Dollar's fate written in history
By John Lee

Debt-based monetary systems are inherently unstable. Money is created out of thin air by the banks and lent to government, consumers and businesses. In order to service and repay those debts, the borrowers take on more debts. Asset prices are inflated, and the vicious cycle continues until the debtors are unable to borrow or the banks are unwilling to lend.

"Money created out of thin air" should be the thing everyone looks at.

Anyone have a jar of fens or a couple million yuan stashed away?

The price of gold has been rising. Stocks and gold have been moving in tandem as of late.

Stocks and gold are probably going to drop for a bit over the next few days though.

Few days are not making the difference. Trend is.

Odd that the talk of moving off the Dollar, even by SecTres Geithner, started in earnest under the Reign of the King Obama

Geithner said no such thing.

Less time snorting Obama Kool Aid + more time read OP = less time making an ass of yourself.

Geithner's remarks about currency send dollar on wild ride

Bloomberg News / March 26, 2009

WASHINGTON - Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner sent the dollar tumbling with comments about China's ideas for overhauling the global monetary system, only to drive it up by affirming that it should remain the world's reserve currency.

Nice petty bickering , its the fed policy. can we work together to end the fed?

I don't think we should end the Fed, but IMHO the Fed is the primary cause for the decline in the dollar.

It isn't only the Fed, however. The Federal government bares significant responsibility as well.

And that includes Bush. The Bush administration and the Republican Congress presided over one of the worst declines of the dollar, ever. Most of the decline occurred from 2002 through 2006.

Its laughable to say that Obama has "wrecked the dollar" given what occurred under the Bush administration.

Having said that, I own a lot of gold.

Right, because what happened at the end of Sept 2001?

When does that article claim Geithner suggested changing the currency? It doesn't.

Get you face out of the Kool aid Can and read!

"Geithner was asked at a Council on Foreign Relations event in New York about People's Bank of China Governor Zhou Xiaochuan's call for a new international reserve currency. He said while he had not read Zhou's proposal, he understood it as a plan "designed to increase the use of the IMF's special drawing rights. And we're actually quite open to that."

If true, it means that dollar became burden to us.

This has become a sufficiently commonplace rightwing talking point to cause me to put this chart on my favorites list:

Nice job Frank, lol

Did you bother to read the OP?

Life is too short. The dollar has been falling for 8 years, and only recently leveled off. Obama isn't killing the dollar; he's got his hands full killing grandmas.

What a fucking moron.

The OP was about the collapse of the dollar as the world reserve currency under Geithner and Obama.

Why do you do this to yourself time after time?

Still, think I'm Chicken Little?

If we lose our currency we lose our Sovereignty, I mean more so that we already have already to the Fed.

WAKE THE FUCK UP!

Dollar's days of dominance may end

By Patrice Hill

World Bank President Robert B. Zoellick warned Monday that, with foreign economic powers rising quickly on the world stage, time is running out for the privileged role enjoyed by the American currency.

You can't blame the dollars downfall on Obama, at least not solely. It's the direct fault of the Federal Reserve with their inflationary policies. The Presidents, since Woodrow Wilson, and Congress are complicit because they allowed the Fed to do this, but you can't simply blame it on Obama and the Democratic Party.
