Obama Defends Biden on 'Chains' Comment !!

Good for the President. If that's the worst gaff Joe makes this year we'll be lucky.

How many times has the Romney camp fabricated talking points from clips of a speech cobbled together to present a false narrative of the message? In fact such a lie is central to their campaign now.

None actually.

In fact it is one of their central themes now.

FactCheck.org : ‘You Didn’t Build That,’ Uncut and Unedited

1. Fact Check is hardly an unbiased web site.

2. Your link provides his talk uncut and unedited and it STILL is exactly what we say it is, it's an insult to businessmen and entrepenuers everywhere. That's why most businessmen and women are insulted by it. You calling it a lie doesn't make it so.

2. The only businessmen and businesswomen I know who were insulted by it were even more insulted when they found out what the president really said. "Does the GOP and Romney think we're stupid?"

"The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together."

Likely the male side of the Obama ancestry did not arrive in the United States via the older practice of Indentured Servitude. Variously, in many sources, it is well-known concept, in the history of the United States.

"The Thirty Year's War had left Europe's economy depressed, and many skilled and unskilled laborers were without work. A new life in the New World offered a glimmer of hope; this explains how one-half to two-thirds of the immigrants who came to the American colonies arrived as indentured servants.

Servants typically worked four to seven years in exchange for passage, room, board, lodging and freedom dues. While the life of an indentured servant was harsh and restrictive, it wasn't slavery. There were laws that protected some of their rights. But their life was not an easy one, and the punishments meted out to people who wronged were harsher than those for non-servants. An indentured servant's contract could be extended as punishment for breaking a law, such as running away, or in the case of female servants, becoming pregnant."

The Vice President's ancestry is not noted in any campaign. He is from Delaware--my own family history is not of Indentured Servitude, but is of Penn Quakers in that area.

Europeans know about the chains of servitude, based on economics, in the United States.

"You Load Sixteen Tons, And What Do You Get?! Another Day Older and Deeper In Debt! St. Peter Don't You Call Me "Cause I Can't Go! I owe my Soul To the Company Store!"

White people do know about chains. Tennessee Ernie Ford was actually a neighbor of Bob Hope, the Commedian, when they were alive.

Leslie(?), in fact, had come over at least on some nature of boat! It is not clear just how Obama-Biden needs to clear that up, however.

"Crow, James Crow: Shaken, Not Stirred!"
(Many come on boat. Take away Lands of Many Nations. Many know chains of Firewater now, on trail of tears!)

2. You will say any idiotic thing just to avoid being wrong or admitting that your side is wrong. Go on ahead with that. No one else is buying it.

1. President Barack Obama is defending Vice President Joe Biden against criticism of his remarks that Republican repeal of Wall Street regulations would put voters "back in chains."
In an interview with People magazine on Wednesday, Obama said Biden's remarks meant consumers would be worse off if Republicans succeeded in doing away with new restraints on financial institutions.

2. Hundreds of black people were in the audience when Biden added, "They're going to put y'all back in chains."

3. Joe does it again!
In a speech today in Virginia, Vice President Joe Biden seemed to forget we're in the 21st century:

'Folks, where's it written we cannot lead the world in the 20th century in making automobiles?," said Biden.

4. The White House has to worry that for the next 82 days Joe Biden will be under tremendous scrutiny — especially given the fact that Paul Ryan has become such a media-attention magnet. Everyone is anticipating the October 11 debate between Biden and Ryan. Biden’s penchant for off-the-cuff remarks doesn’t inspire confidence that he won’t unintentionally blurt something out when facing Ryan.

5. So Democrats are stuck with Old Joe, who will turn 70 this November. It’s said that few people vote for a presidential ticket based on who is filling the No. 2 slot. But some do, and they may matter in a very close race. It’s likely that by the time this campaign ends, a lot of people will be more nervous about Joe Biden being a heartbeat away from the presidency than about Paul Ryan.

That’s a good strategy, Obama. Spend your time explaining Biden’s gaffes!

To a black person Chains is as offensive as the word N*gger is.

Yeah right, who am I going to believe, you or my lying ears?

Biden said the mistake he made was that he intended to say "shackles" instead of chains referring to Wall Street.

Presumabley shackling us is different from chaining us. If there's a difference it's that slaves weren't shackled that they were chained. So we aren't supposed to assume any race baitnig was implied, even though he was speaking to a predominantly black audience, and he took on a southern inflection, addressing them as "you all"

When considering who has actually irresponsibly "unshackled" Wall Street what about this:

The Clinton adminstration, in two terms, prosecuted 1,000 cases against Wall Street interests.

The GW Bush administration, in two terms, prosecuted 1,300 cases.

The Obama administration in its single term did not attempt to prosecute any

MF Global, lost 1-billion-dollars of customers funds in its own transaction in Euro bonds, and no charges will be filed.

Wonder why?
A criminal investigation into the collapse of the brokerage firm MF Global and the disappearance of about $1 billion in customer money is now heading into its final stage without charges expected against any top executives.

Reported just now on FNC; Per Jay Carney, President Obama will not drop Biden from ticket

Nothing could make us (who call ourselves) Republicans happier than to keep him on the ticket; Hillary would be a new ballgame.

Former Virgian Governor Doug Wilder, the first black governor in the US and a black Democrat (on the FNC being interviewed by Neil Cavutto) called Biden's "chains" comment racist.

More from Wilder:

RICHMOND, Va. – The nation's first elected black governor, Doug Wilder of Virginia, has lambasted Vice President Joe Biden on national television for his comment Tuesday about banks keeping people "in chains."

" - Wilder, a Democrat and a grandson of slaves, echoed indignant Republican claims that Biden's remarks before a largely black crowd in Danville, Va., brought racism into the presidential race.

In railing against Republican efforts to undo Obama administration regulations reining in Wall Street after the 2008 stock market meltdown, Biden said the GOP wants to "unchain Wall Street."

Then, Biden added, "they're going to put y'all back in chains."

Wilder said he felt Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would have made a better Obama running mate and called on Biden to "cool it, back up" and admit that he was wrong - "
