Obama Now Selling Judgeships for Health Care Votes? | The Weekly Standard

On March 3rd:

Barack Obama will host ten House Democrats who voted against the health care bill in November at the White House; he's obviously trying to persuade them to switch their votes to yes. One of the ten is Jim Matheson of Utah. The White House just sent out a press release announcing that today President Obama nominated Matheson's brother Scott M. Matheson, Jr. to the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.

I don't believe in coincidences of this magnitude in politics.

Orin Hatch, a Republican, has endorsed Mattheson has extremely qualified.
The kicker is if his brother would have voted FOR the health care bill all of you would have claimed Obama nominated his brother for that reason alone.
Real easy to play both sides of the fence.
Mattheson is well qualified, was US Attorney for the ENTIRE state of Utah, a law school dean and a nationally acclaimed constitutional scholar amongst all political parties.
The kicker is the job of Judge pays about one fourth what he makes now.
And you claim the Judgeship was up for sale? LOL. the nominee makes 4 times now what that job pays.

The same day that the President is going to host Rep. Matheson at the White House to try and persuade him to change his vote, the President nominates his brother.

THATS the coincidence. Not that his brother is being nominated. It's the timing, and the timing reeks of vote buying.

Wow! This is magic. It is a sop to the LDS church, for which Scott is a homer on the court; a sop to Jim, for the vote; and a smack at the very conservative GOP base in Utah. That is touching the bases! Jim can vote for the bill because he is pretty safe in the most liberal of Utah's districts; much of his party of Salt Lake has always been liberal.

Doesn't matter if its true or not, the fact that it gives THE APPEARANCE of wrong doing should have made it not happen.

It again shows Barry's lack of judgement and good sense, even if it was coincedence he should have thought about the possible consequences.

But that is Barry, he NEVER thinks that far ahead.
