Reporting from Washington—
Facing criticism from Congress that authority for U.S. military action in Libya is about to expire under the War Powers Act, President Obama asked congressional leaders late Friday for a resolution of support for continuing the military involvement.

"It has always been my view that it is better to take military action, even in limited actions such as this, with congressional engagement, consultation and support," Obama wrote in a letter to the Democratic and Republican leaders of the House and Senate. "Congressional action in support of the mission would underline the U.S. commitment to this remarkable international effort."

The War Powers Act requires the White House to seek approval of Congress within 60 days of notification of military activity, a law put in place during the political fallout of the Vietnam War. Friday marked the 60th day since the administration announced the U.S. role in Libya.

One of these days a President is going to have the balls to take it to the USSC. The problem is that they may look at all these Presidents following the WPA and decide that historical compliance justifies its constitutionality.

They might at that.

"Blinked" against who?

SURPRISE!!!!

From the political left, Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) has said he would seek to put a resolution before the House next week "to force a vote on our adventure in Libya and to attempt to bring Congress to a realization of the serious erosion of constitutional authority."

Clearly Obama has been replaced with an imposter. Just look at what Barack Obama said in 2007:

The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.

Boston.com - Special reports - News

The only sensible course of action is to arrest this imposter and find out where the real Obama is being held.

The WPA is un-Constitutional, and any president who invokes the Act is acting in an un-Constitutional manner:

Section 8 - Powers of Congress

To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;

To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years…

US Constitution

Congress does not have the authority to abdicate its Constitutionally mandated role to declare war; that may only be realized by amending the Constitution.

Quite interesting that this happpens on the same day they released the video of Obama, Biden And Hillary meeting in Michelle's vegetable garden on the morning of the Bin Laden raid......Seems like Obama is really getting a kick out of this war stuff.

"Remarkable" is relative. It's "remarkable" when a democratic president uses military force.

I don't know why he's going to Congress. Most presidents either partially or totally ignore the WPA. If he doesn't go to Congress they can stop the US participation by withholding funds. If he does go to Congress, they can stop participation by withholding the funds. But since control of congress is split, they will make a couple hundred speeches and do nothing as usual. I find it amazing we pay people to do this.

Not a one.

The guy actually quoted the Voting Rights Act claiming it is part of the Constitution.

It is remarkable because it was started by a guy who won the Nobel Peace Prize. As far as I know that makes it unique.
