WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama and his family attended Easter service Sunday at a Washington church founded in 1863 by freed slaves.

The first family entered Shiloh Baptist Church to a round of applause on a sun-splashed day in the nation's capital as members of a choir dressed in black, white and gold sang "Total Praise."

Obama shook a few hands and hugged some members of the congregation as he and his wife, Michelle, and their daughters, Malia and Sasha, walked to a second-row pew.

According to the church's pastor, Dr. Wallace Charles Smith, 21 freed slaves made it to the nation's capital from Fredericksburg, Va., to establish a place where they could worship freely and where "they could reach others with the good news of their salvation."

Smith wrote last September, on the church's 147th anniversary, that the group "could not see the way ahead ... but went forth to a land they felt God had given them."

Located about two miles north of the White House, Shiloh Baptist is one of the oldest African-American congregations in the city. In addition to Sunday service, the church situated in the Shaw section of the city operates several community service programs throughout the year, including a child care development center and assistance to low-income families and senior citizens. Smith will observe his 20th anniversary at Shiloh in July.

Fuck...can't these morons just move on and forget about slavery....Oh WAIT....it's reparations they're after....silly me. Here is another option, if you're so mistreated in the US....go back to your roots....Africa awaits you.....

Ya Sir Boss.

I think it's foolish to forget your roots and where you come from. Because if you don't know where you came from, you are going to repeat the same mistakes as your fathers.

It sounds like the Church does alot of good. As well it should. All Churches should be doing good and we should stop letting the Federal Government usurp their priviliges to serve those in need

Obma is an a campaign mode. Every thing he does for the next long long year and a half is calculated to shore up his base in the 2012 election.

I'm not making the connection between faith-based community service, that is privately funded, and seeking reparations for the descendants of slaves?

Did I miss something?

Instead of celebrating Easter, trips to Hawaii and all the golf..blah blah...he should be in his office, scrating his head and thinking how to get this country back on track and take his 21/2 years of wasted paper on his failed Ombumba care and shred it.

Nah, then the church fearing few would be having his butt over being a heathen. Now win situation.

I take it you dont think obamacare goes far enough to remove us from the old socialist system?

The Obama's are Baptists?

No. They're Muslims.

He sat in the pew of Wright for 20 years, Wright's church was B.L.T. Obama's religion was so important to him that he threw it and Wright under the bus the minute it became a problem. Now they attend a Baptist church for Easter. Last year they went to the Allen Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church. The year before they attended the church near the WH, St. John's Episcopal. It certainly appears they go for appearances only.

Yep. I wonder if he carried a BIG black Bible under his arm like Bill Clinton did when he visited all those 'black' churches? Even some of this supporters giggled about that.

But seriously, unless the President or First Lady say something different, none of us know why they chose to attend that particular church on Easter Sunday or why they chose to go to any church on Easter Sunday.

I have a whole bunch of stuff to quarrel with our fearless leader about without speculating on Easter Sunday services.
