Obama approves of same sex marriage

Because...uhhh.... he doesn't...uhhh.... believe a word....uhhh... that comes out of....uhhhh... his own mouth.

Okay. But if you're claiming it's dishonest because it was a cave to pressure - then why did he have the exact opposite stance the last election if it was simply for votes? That is contrary to logic. I asked for an honest answer, all I heard was "derp derp derp."
Because he's fucking dishonest little punk....It's no more complicated than that.

Sure it is. If he's pandering now, why didn't he pander then.

I'll rewrite it in "herpaderp," if that's your primary language.

That's not a logical answer.

You've given no motive for said dishonesty.

If it's for political means - then you'd have to explain that because he's done just the opposite in the very last Election; thus, that would make no sense unless a great deal of Gay-rights issue voters suddenly changed their position in 3 years to suddenly make the opposite stance a better one now.

He was trying to have it both ways but realized he had to make a decision. I personally support gay marriage as well but think Obama has been punking out due to his "evolving" views. Will it be a big deal in the election? Probably not. The economy as always will be what elects the next president.

This is the kind of issue that galvanizes people to get out and vote. Because this was on the ballot in North Carolina, the turnout was huge and the bill banning same sex marriage passed with 61% of the vote. North Carolina is (or was up to this point) a must win battleground state for obama, as Colorado is (or was) a battleground state. Colorado banned so much as civil unions.

This is just the kind of issue that is going to get people to the polls. There are conservatives on the fence about Romney, they won't be after today.

Y'all might want to brace yourselves for a similar endorsement by Romney.

Now all we have to do is see if his actions back his words.

And as we've seen with Obama, you never know if that's the case.

I couldn't care less if he has outright hated Gays in the past:

He is the first standing US President to endorse Gay marriage.

This is progress, any movement in a positive direction is progression.

I'm not someone who's ever cared much about the words of politicians.

Usually they're lies and/or exaggerations and every word said in front of a camera is done so for the purpose of gaining votes/popularity.

What politician isn't?

He really didn't have to pander in '08. He was a sure thing before....now he knows he's not.

No other President has endorsed Gay marriage, outwardly. It's a milestone, albeit there's work to do.

Oh, I didn't even think what impact it would have on his campaign. But since he's pandering to off-the-cliff rights, I don't see it happening.

I have nothing but respect for the man. Talk about being true to your convictions. He made this announcement in an election year, six months before we vote. Knowing what it could cost him. NOTHING but admiration and respect, Mr. President. Thank you.

You're easily impressed.

My sister is gay, so yes. This is personal.

Where was your sorry lard ass when the democrats were picking on Cheney for having a gay daughter? hus asswipe?

That quote has helped zero gay couples get married.

Obama tells Robin Roberts of ABC.

Once the gaffe machine, aka Biden, said what he did, it put Obama on the spot and he had to go one way or the other. That statement about his views evolving was outrageous. I heard a reporter on the radio news a while ago announcing that Obama has completed his evolution and was ready to back gay marriage.

I find it laughable that anyone would take this whole view evolution thing seriously. Obama wanted to have it both ways till Biden went out there and stirred things up. I don't know if he looked at polls or what, but don't take him seriously. He can't change anything anyway and said it's up to the states, so he can safely say this without anyone expecting him to actually make gay marriage legally.

Some states are enlightened enough to do that and I wish more would. I believe in monogamy, regardless of orientation, and feel that any couple deserves the tax breaks and ability to put their spouse on their medical insurance, etc.

I know some in the press will slobber all over Obama, thinking he is so enlightened, however delayed, but this is just a political move that he was forced into and it means nothing in the long run.

It's the same old "who are they going to vote for, a republican?" bullshit that gays have been treated to for decades...Now that Boiking is in seriously deep shit electorally, he suddenly gets an epiphany and all the zombies burst to their feet in raucous cheering.

Whatta joke!

Even George Bush, had his Dick Cheney: Supportive of the Reagan Trajectory! Especially the Romneys believe that, "Ronald Reagan Proved Deficits Don't Matter!" Using the fixed percentage guidelines and contracted pay raises in the law: Then the money drifts up to the rich, and away from the marketplace. It gets invested to send more money to the rich, using the arithmetic, on and on. That too, gets invested. . . . .

Refusing to spread the hoarding of the money around is then ficticiously labled, "austerity." "Austerity" is actually the status quo, when the arithmetic is in place. The money does not get spent. Socialist Civilizations rejected the fallacy of "austerity," just over the last weekend. The new concept will more likely be to spread the money around in the marketplace.

Subsequent that, Vice President Biden took the lead, again: In support of the Equal Justice Under Law, kind of concept, U. S. A. Opposed to that, like RNC is for, even in the last decade there was a Southern Justice of the Peace who had refused to marry couples several times, based on race. That is clearly now embraced at RNC, in the matter of orientations: No Equal Justice Under Law!

"Crow, James Crow: Shaken, Not Stirred!"
(Young warriors on Lands of Many Nations: Know real goal of intertribal conflict to be the spreading around, in the market-place! Take many squaws! Many send many ponies! Hmmmm!)

Thats all obvious shit, but words are not completely meaningless either.

Once society is in higher and higher percentages accepting gay marriage, and then a US President follows suit, it means something.

not as much as an "action," but it means something.
